So looking at the schematics in the FSM, the 4 cylinder models (turbo and N/A) had 2 fans, neither of which were variable speed. The 6 cylinder models however had what looks to be 3 speed fans, that were controlled by the ECU.

See page 4348 of the manual for the RHD 6cyl fan wiring, or 4346 for the 4cyl fan wiring.

So after reading this, I'd just revert it back to the stock fans Nick, you're going to see 0 differences by fitting the multi-speed fans, if anything, you might actually cause issues by having the 2 windings working at the same time, potentially overloading the cables and fuses. The H4 system uses a 20A fuse, whereas the H6 system uses a 30A, to allow for the extra load of multiple coils running at once.

The stock H4 fan setup will be flat out or off.

Cheers,
Ben

Getting in deep there Barbs. Nicely blocked and relocated PCV valve you have there!

The snapped bolt on the PS pump - it won’t leak as it’s only a mount bolt. That said, it’ll be a bastard to get out to separate the PS pump from its bracket without drilling it out or pulling the pulley off the front of the pump. Best get onto it now than leave it be. That’s the barbs way right??

Cheers

Pulley is pressed on annoyingly and there are no seals available for these pumps oem so If it leaks bad enough that stop leak wont fix ill source another pump

Nothing too exciting happened this weekend. Im basically stuck waiting for parts. Partsouq keeps letting me down and every other method is an ETA of christmas so were on the long con here.

Attempted to bid on a V8 1 piece intake manifold last night. Placed a bid of 30k yen and was told it had already passed that amount so gave up. Ended up selling for 30k and 9 yen because of course it did. Not telling how much more it would have gone to though so is what it is.

What i did get done is saucing a GT28 rear housing for the turbo and cobbling together a wastegate setup from bits lying around and a grinder

Remember to use all the eBay type weapons when using IM or Yahoo Japan. Never use round numbers, wait until the last second and bid as much as you're willing to go to from the get go. Also, if you really want something, put in multiple bids to make it look like there's already lots of interest. You'll note that in the screenshot of my 401 bar that there are 10 bids. All of them are mine. It's a great way to discourage people from bidding. Looks like you've been tinkering though!

4 days off and some very generous OG members means things are back on track.

Starting with new oil pump seals and double checking the oil pump rotor bolts cos apparently thats a thing. Only clean oil i had floating around was the saucy HKS oil so why not
zr1QPY2.jpg

Now the timing belt, I normally suck at this and usually need some help. Managed to get it on first go! No idea why it was so easy this time, maybe slightly softer valve springs in the 208 heads vs spicy 20K heads who knows. Didnt take any pics cos its a timing belt lol.

With that done i got stuck into the intake manifold. An OG member (Sam) had pretty much everything i needed to get the show back on the road and is a legend.

OEM TGV Deletes assembled with the pink injectors and new o-rings
TiC5FCY.jpg

Brand new PCV tree (this was my doing)
noTThKB.jpg

Manifold painted wrinkle red cos why not and reassembled with new gaskets, fuel hoses and the fresh GDB loom
pEB29iQ.jpg

Had this billet header tank lid sitting on the shelf for a while now so finally got to install it, with the HKS rad cap for show. I dont plan on running the high pressure cap. Would like to keep the heater core in 1 piece. They do come in a normal pressure so thats the plan for Ron
O9wRfaj.jpg

Sam also donated this PSR silicone inlet pipe which went in quite easily with the engine out lol
SEPziYT.jpg

Also gave me a TS sump which pending the arrival of new sump o-rings and a good clean out will get installed this week. Then i can install my headers and start fiddling with turbo stuff

Yay

Nice Nick, was hoping to see an update post...
Also pretty sure 108kPa is stock pressure for a rad cap. I think mine is the higher pressure unit from STi at 130kPa. Got some nice spice going in there!

So much for not wanting to be the sti look alike lol
Timing belt is an odd one. Sometimes they're a prick, other times they decide they like you and go on first time. Looks like it wanted you to change it!

Got some plans for twin scroll down the track you're not mentioning here Nick?

Cheers,
Ben

Spose its not super high pressure at 1.3 bar but stock cap is 0.9? At least in V3/4 world. Maybe Phase 2 stuff is higher.

Well normally id get the manifold powder coated but lockdowns, limited funds to due xmas and birthdays coming up meant paint and GD manis do look good in red so why not lol.

No plans for twin scroll, just need the sump for my EL headers

Edit: 1.1 bar is indeed the stock pressure. Sick

You didn’t want to go with the STi cherry blossom red on the manifold?? I’ve always thought a lime green would go well, but of a hulk like feel to it...

I love all the extra little touches you put into your builds - they’re all the bits I don’t know about or can’t be bothered with (generally both)!

You threw my week out with the late update :P Now I think it’s Tuesday...

Also, which oil pump did you go for?

Cheers

The factory wrinkle red is basically impossible to reproduce. Never seen any person or company match it even the big boys like RCM etc. VHT wrinkle red is ok (which is what i used). My powder coater has a very good wrinkle red but yeah, wouldnt bother doing wrinkle red if it was getting coated.

Oil pump is the stock 10mm. Doesnt need anything more than that

ok

This weekend was basically a write off with family shit catching up to me after covid. Managed to sneak a few hours in on friday and sunday night though.

Bucket sump off the 208. Very black inside and no aftermarket rods unfortunately
AluvCRd.jpg

KillerB goodies installed.
nTAGfDp.jpg

Headers, up pipe, turbo installed. Had to fight the inlet fitment a lot. Trimming down both the turbo snout and the inlet until it fit nicely. Pretty common on aftermarket turbos especially with the 2 piece GD manifolds. Its not perfect but given its not under pressure should hold on ok. Worst case ive still got some wiggle room to trim the inlet a bit more to get it seated fully on the edge

oh and my black dash trims finally arrived

Nothing much happened this weekend as im poor due to the missos birthday lol

Decided to clear out the aids box
wRvEvAM.jpg

and replace it all with a 3 port pierburg solenoid
LXTw4ro.jpg

Am aware the actual boost control solenoid is in the passenger guard. Have found the pins to switch to have it control this one :)

So that aids box now just hides/houses your boost control solenoid? Why not flick it off, or is it a Barb’s nod to its days as a twin turbo??

Correct just a big BCS mount. Bit of a nod and it keeps it hidden nicely i guess. Can mount other things in there one day too maybe
