I'm very impressed with these conversion kits. At first I thought they'd be fairly cheap nasty tacked on items but a lot of them are fairly good! Yours doesn't look like you really did anything to it...which is exactly the point of these conversion units, so its worked well for you :) BTW - I was fiddling around with the latest Pioneer AVIC F10 something-or-rather and wow....those systems all similar to what you have are like day and night when compared to the competition. Very bloody good, and very very tempting to buy...

Tom - thanks mate. That fuel economy is an "around town" figure too. Had it down to 6.7l/100 on a recent trip! Shiv, these kits are the real deal - genuine Subaru kit, JDM stylez. So they use all the same plastics as the AUDM unit and the climate control unit is exactly the same. They certainly aren't cheap. I can't recommend this AVIC900 more highly. It's the best... Buy one, you won't be sorry! Now... Here's the pickle. It sounds pretty good with the HU powering the OEM speakers. I'm considering not buying new speakers, not wiring them up to the amp and maybe just getting a monoblock to power the sub. Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions... Might drive on it for a week or two to see how I feel about the sound before splashing out on new speakers. Speaking of which, anyone know what the size of the front and rear spks are in the gen4's?

I know! I reckon if the AUDM models were spec'd as highly as the JDM models they'd cost a hell of a lot more...
At least we get to buy all the happy JDM goodness and install it ourselves.

Cheers for the offer Chris, but stereo and AV installs used to be my forte. ;) Last family car had 3 screens and full JL audio setup. Im just over the whole stereo thing at the moment. :D

Fair enough too mate. I like my music, so it's always a high priority... Needless to say, if you're ever doing any installs, let me know and I'll come and give you a hand.

Speaking of stealth installs..... you don't rate under-seat subs?

I mean, it'll be no db dragger, but something for some extra oomph?
I <3 installs too :)

Adrian (Obsessed) from OzFoz has mint wheel well stealth mount sub that hammers! Sits inside the spare and is removable so the spare is still 100% useable. Only thoughts atm....

Ahhh... I see what you mean. Interesting. I was planning on going outside to dummy up my Sub today, with teh 5 channel mounted under the front passenger seat. Not liking the heat though.

Oh dear...

So my missus is driving the car home from the supermarket to her place in Richmond last night, comes flying into her narrow street, goes to pull up at the curb and WHACK!! Smacks the front left wheen into a protruding metal pipe and then continues to grind along the gutter.

Poor girl looked at me like I was going to smack her out or something! Naturally I expressed my displeasure, but told her that I'm not that upset as she clearly didn't mean it.

Anyway, the impact took a chunk out of the rim, scratched a significant part of the rim and split open the side wall of the tyre. The rear rim also copped some scratching.

So I put the spare on and find that the tyre is in not good shape and the rim is also fugged.

When it comes to tyres, I don't like to mess around, so I decided that I am going to get a complete new set and send the rims off to Craig at colorurmags to get refinished.

In the interim, I have put the best rim in the boot as a spare and chucked the BBS rims back on the car. It certainly changes the look of it! I'm not a huge fan, but it will serve a purpose while the other rims and tyres are being sorted.

Here's what she looks like with the BBS rims on.
