Redline is probably a bit of overkill as i dont really give my car/box a thrashing n im mostly driving on the highway

I'm wondering if the idea is to remove the bushing altogether. This may explain the larger diameter ball on the end of the gear stick. Would make for a sharper shift. (might rattle a bit?) As suggested change the oil, I think any synthetic oil of the same grade should be fine. I would also be having a good look at the clutch operating system to make sure it is fully releasing.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Guys, be careful with redline oils. I am not sure which particular type but there is one that is NOT recommended for syncromesh gearboxes and as a result puts more wear and tear on the syncro's and coats them in oil making gear shifting harder unless you RPM match.

Shockproof.
There are reports of syncros "glazing", stopping them from syncronising since they rely on friction to work. If most people took the time to read the directions, shockproof is not recommended for syncro gearboxes.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Cheers guys, but SP is actually reccomended for B4's by Redline http://www.redlineoi...&ProductID=7492 can't imagine why a company would recommend a product that they know causes problems.

Agreed. S&J who service about 1000000000 STi's a day said that theres a certain redline one to avoid but not that one.

I went 2 supercheap n autobarn yday n had a heartattack with the price per litre. I was not expecting $30 at autobarn for syntrax. I cant aford that atm could i use the nulon semi synthetic instead of the fully synthetic? Also i went 2 subaru parts at moorebank and had no luck with the bushing... Had nothing in stock... All the part no. Were the same for all gen3 models n wrx of the same era... She showed me they dont change til 08 n even then i would be guessing... Any of the bushings would have 2 be ordered in n but they are only $7 ea... She said i could try get a custom 1 made up but where would i go?

I used that stuff for 3 days and cooked the oil.
$30 a litre for syntrax is too much though, I filled my box and diff for about $60 from memory.
