Hankook S1Evo (aka K107's)

Got them on my B4 at the moment, and love them to bits, better bang for buck than the Kuhmo's, and wayyy better bang for buck than the Bridgestones

i got these too but how you feel about em in the wet? IMO, grips well in the dry but not as confident in the wet as the Bridgestone F1s. Saying that, for $210/tyre, ain't too bad.

That's not hard.

That Potenza RE001's are amazing in the dry, almost faultless.

But in the wet, give it any boost at all and it gets loose.

and they seem to be held together by screws:

or is that just mine?

Mine too!

That was with my Bilstein Edition rims back in the day.

Bit of a dig but I need some new tyres.

I had these (Toyo T1R) but the track day demolished what was left of them.

Posted Image

While they were good, they have been replaced by these (Toyo T1 sport)
Posted Image

Seeing as I prefer directional tyres over asymmetric and the fact that Toyos are exxxy, they are my last choice.

(I usually get directional tread so I can spin the tyres on the rims to even out the wear)

I'm looking more towards something like these

Hankook Ventus RS2
Posted Image

Hankook Ventus RS3
Posted Image

Yokohama Neova AD08 (I think these will be the most expensive by a long shot)
Posted Image

Kumho Ecsta KU36 (asymmetric but possibly the cheapest)
Posted Image

Any thoughts or experience on the above selection?

Cheers
J

hi,

kuhmo ku36 = great tyre, but f*ck me they are noisy! not your average performance tyre noisy, this is like whirring non stop! wet they are also a bit dicey, big block tread great for grip but not for getting rid of water, brother has had them on his 03 for 10k and they are wearing nicely but i would hate them to be on my daily like his are...

i highly recommend the ku-31's. they are a brilliant tyre on par if not better than the falken FK-452.

I'm sorry

But "Brilliant" and "Falken" do not belong on the same page.

Falken is a half decent budget tyre, but that's it.

Ordered the Hankook RS2 today.

Strange how its classified as a road/track tyre.
With a treadwear of 200 its still a harder compound than the Yokohama 509 I used to use.

Noone could supply the RS3. Apparently not released in Oz yet.

A bloke at work has the Toyo T1sport on his 944 Audi Porsche and can't stop raving about them.
Price is a lot better these days too.

I post some comments on the RS2 once they have worn in a bit.

Farkin tyre place sent the wrong size. 225 instead of 215.
And as they were a buy in, tried to convince us to keep them! Fark that.

Now I have to wait until next week. :dash2:

First wet drive on the RS2s.

Man they stick! You have to push pretty hard to get them to let go.
The wet grip is better than the T1Rs but they wont last as long.
Treadwear 200 vs 280 for the Toyos.

Very happy so far but keen to push them in the dry.
