Time for new tyres.
Morgs,
Im going to try these next
Hankook RS3.
These replaced the RS2s that Im running now and they are great.
Stick like shittoablanket.
The RS3 has a tread wear of 140 (RS2 is 200 IIRC) so they are soft but I have seen Bridgestones with the same rating fitted as OEM to some of the Euro cars.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Can you explain load rating to me!?
It seems to consist of a number and a letter. What the difference between say 95W and 95H?

Just bought a set of KU39s on Tara's MY10 WRX. 225/45/17. $150 a corner from Tempe.
So far, so good. I'm quite impressed.

95 is the load rating, the W & H are the speed ratings. How much per corner?

You can go over the load and speed ratings as per the the tyre placard but not under.
If you are changing sizes, I would recommend keeping the rolling radius within 3% if possible.
Hankook seems to have decent reviews. Know anything about this model?

I think the tread blocks have too many lines through them. Notice how the RS3 is the opposite with large tread blocks.
This makes for a quiet tyre and should have good wet grip but the tread will 'squirm' around under higher loads.
With a treadwear of 420 they will last for ages. (420 is roughly the same as 4 gravel- 2 sand-1 cement)
Remember that tyres 'heat cycle' (some more than others) that causes the rubber to harden thus effectivley raising the tread wear value.

Not happy with the road noise of my current Bridgies...
Question Mark - I tried to get a shipping quote but they only deliver to the US and Canada? Did you use a redirecting service?
Ryan, do Tempe deliver? That's an awesome price!

I've bought from Tempe before, and I will again because of price, but they are almost always parallel imports.

Nik - so not the real deal? Can't be too bad if you'll buy again?

Correct. The last set I got were from Singapore (I think? I can clarify if need be), they've worn well etc, but they are not to the exact spec of AUDM retail.
I will buy them again because I drive like a Nanna and they are cheaper than the local bloke can even buy them wholesale.
Just throwin' out some info!
KU31's by the way
Cheers,
Nik

Just throwin' out some info!
This is why I'm here
I wish KU31s were available in my size..!
So many people use Tempe so they must be ok. I'm just wary of these parallel imports because when dad was getting his last set, a certain local tyre shop quoted a noticeably cheaper price on a set of P7s. He questioned it with his mate at Bob Jane and he was told how dodgy this other place is!

I suppose.Continental is a good brand, no?

I have a good relationship with my local bloke, I put some bus companies/limo companies on to him. So there's an air of trust. He said they're parallel imports, but he couldn't fault them. I've bought 12 tyres now, and haven't had a problem.
All KU31's.
If you're going to track the car or really push it, I'd say go with something you really know... but if you're just driving the bloody thing, I have no problem recommending the KU31's from Tempe.
Cheers,
Nik
