6000k is optimum light output according to my research. Most of the Syd guys have 6000k and they say its great? From memory Dyl has 8000k and that is too blue for me. Could be wrong though

Also similar phrases on a few sites

"What is HID Lumen?
Lumen is a unit of measuring the light output, brightness, of a source. Traditional low-beam halogen headlight produces 1000 – 1200 lumens, while HID outfitted headlight outputs around 3200 lumens.

4100k - 4300k is the ideal HID color temperature to produce the maximum amount of light, lumens, hence the reason while all OEM manufacturers equip their vehicles with these types of bulbs.

I've got 6k, they are abit ordinary in the rain - but when does it ever rain... I paid $80 landed at my door in 2008 and they are still going.

2002 Outback - it's gone...

4300k is the best, looks close to the colour of the sun so looks best, 6000k is getting to much whiter light (almost with a slight blueness) and 8000k has more blueness again.

I hate my 6000k's when fog is around, useless.

Hong Kong/eBay, some rip off Bosch kit. 35w H7 kit, low beam only. I've got a 50w H1 kit for the high beams - would not get a 50w kit again, takes too long to burn in/heat up whatever they do, for IMO not much more light output from standard reflector housings. 6k does have a blue tint too it, lights up street signs/cats eye jiggers etc pretty well. The only thing I dis-like about the 6k, is as I said, in the rain. Maybe a HID discussion is abit off topic...

I dont mind a bit of HID talk in my thread :P I have fog lights for fog - and im keeping my halogen globes in them for the moment so that shouldnt be a problem I had the Narva(?) Ultra-Blue globes in my RX and they were useless in the dry. Im sure anything will be an improvement on 1. ultra-blue's and 2. one working halogen!

Morgs try this place on ebay...

Mobii

I bought some 4300k for my headlights and fogs... been about 12mths for my headlights an 2 for my fogs (no probs at all... They are pretty cheap and very good quality as they supplies to a few big car yards in the north side of sydney and in parramatta... They offer pick up at Rosebery so it works out pretty cheap...

Hes shown me his set up, high stock demand...Sells other car stuff as well and can do car imports as well...

Haha. I guess in summary, i was wrong... EDIT: Shiv's ones turned out to be too expensive for me at the moment so ill go ebay ones. I think ill look into the 4300k ones now. Just waiting to hear back from the company Chris posted (above) as they seem pretty good.
