Man lovely car!!! Love how tidy it is too! Wish I had a sunroof, I was going to get a two tone silver/graphite with sunroof but it was too expensive... but I still love my outback!

That foot well light sounds a good idea! I hope you don't lower it (only as I see some suggest it)

Why new control arms? Did you bend em on some hard off roading?

I hope you lower it shiv

Thanks Matt! :D

I believe the control arms have developed a leak. Not sure if its related to the offroad stuff I've done with it. Not too fussed if that's the cause...

In regards to lowering it - I wouldn't consider it. An Outback is far too much fun off the beaten track to take-away its greatest capability ;)

2. Addition of foot-well lighting:

Thanks to Chris for the idea. For those of you who are interested - I hard wired a thin LED strip to the dome light. Easy enough. Hard part was threading the wire from the dome light to the floor. I managed to lose it in the sunroof, but once recovered it was just a case of getting it behind the dash and over to the passenger side.

Its a cool white light. Comes on whenever I unlock the car, turn off the engine or obviously whenever the doors are open. Neat little mod this...

I actually wired mine up to the ignition barrel light instead... Only coz I was lazy...

Also love the sound the H6 puts out now! Sounds beasty!!!

Also how can control arms develop a leak? Am I missing something? Arent they full press steel?

Are they LEDs?

Yup :)

It looks a lot neater with those two rows of lights in it.

BTW, I like the amber. I know everyone goes clear (and if I had the equivalant RX/GTB I'd do the same), but I think the amber suits the Outback a bit more IMO.

Thanks Chris, yeah she sounds tough! :D

I can't remember about the control arms because I was hungover that early morning but I think it was something to do with the bushes that bolt onto the control arms. Gotta sort that out next...

Haha yeh, fair enough. As I said - if it were an RX or GTB, I'd go the clear route ;)

You could source one from here in NZ, all our imported top-model legacy's have em... my Outback has one and it's way better than the standard ones. You'd probably pay a couple hundred but as you can see in shiv's they're blooooody nice. You also can adjust the brightness etc and when you start the car it has a cool light up sequence:
- Halos come up
- Then sweeps light up
- Then the backlilght shows the actual gauges

Mine had a few halos out so I took the whole thing out and replaced the bulbs, pretty interesting how they work. I don't know if AUDM models come with em? I don't think NZ models did, only JDM Outback H6 / B4 RSK / GT30 / GT etc...

Bugger, that video reminds me... my handbrake light is out!!! Arghh. Needa take it out again one day (pain in the a**) and replace. Also Shiv, does your AT Oil Temp light come up during start up of the dash / car? My old H4 Legacy didn't but i'm wondering if the H6s do... last thing I want is an important bulb like the at oil temp light not showing up!

The AUDM B4s have them and the Luxury H6 Outback but nothing else.

Pretty sure it's a completely different loom though - not a plug and play job :(

omg haha uve made me want it even more :yahoo:
So its similar to some of the Gen4 start ups? :) they look amazing

whereabouts would this loom be different? any idea on how much of a problem it would be?

I am VERY eager to acquire and install one of these asap!

Would anyone be able to give me suggestions or point me to someone whether they are or arent on the forum in order to find one and to install it? Thanks! :D

I've seen them occasionally pop up on ebay.

PM jzk25 (Al from AM Auto). He will know exactly what you need.

Matt did the cluster conversion when he did his v8 STi conversion in his RX.

Looks awesome :)

Hi,

I still don't understand how a control arm is leaking?

Cheers,
Nik

Not the arm, the rear bush (where an ALK would go) - it's "oil" filled.

2002 Outback - it's gone...
