Good luck with the MRI! Wouldnt mind seeing what a 40k paint job looks like either, even if it is on a commodore :P

Cheers guys, looking forward to working on her finally. Its nice to get her into the shed, its one more step in the right direction.

Will get a happy snap of the commodore later on, most of the panels and doors have been removed and are stored in the blokes spare room, so about the only body work left is the shell and the boot. I'll have to get permission from him to stick it up though, he's wanted to keep it under wraps until he's got most of it done. Shouldnt be a problem though, especially as its pretty much just showing the paint work.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Good luck with the future man! Hope you and the car are in good health for many years to come :)

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Some not so good news. You'll likely be seeing me on here a bit more. Surgery is needed, and is booked for the 12 August. Full on open the skull up this time though, not just endoscopic removal. See how we go, will likely get some more done on the car in this time. Will keep this as updated as I can.

That doesn't sound so great.

Best of luck. My old man had a growth on his pituitary removed through his nose about 12 years ago (they cut the bridge of his nose, opened it up and went in with one of those mechanics grabbers). He's still going strong, despite being a lifelong smoker.

They're pretty amazing with the brain surgery these days, and its a remarkably robust organ.

Surgery wasn't too bad, some post op seizures and complications, back home now, but can't wait to be back at work of all things.

Cheers, hopefully back on light duties after 6 weeks, going to be going stir crazy soon, theres only so many computer games you can play until you get sick of them. The seizures may make work a little hesitant, as I am a HV sparky, and they tend to Ur on the side of caution with HV.

Glad to hear the op went well.

Time off when you're 'recovering' is boring as bat-shit.

I spent a few weeks off last year after busting a vertebrae and went back to work early - I didn't have the strength or flecibility to actually do anything useful around the house.

Maybe you need to move onto the lower voltages :)

Cool.

Im an industrial sparkie. Was HV at my last job, switching 11kv furnaces on a daily basis in the Holden Foundry but new job means no HV. Now, just elec/instro and LV work.

I've thought about moving out of the HV aspect, but I rather enjoy working on the big stuff, its a lot more enjoyable for me believe it or not. I like playing with stuff that others dislike. Sure, theres risks, but theres risks to walking down the street. Plus you tend to get looked at differently by the LV guys who think you are crazy lol. You just need to respect it a bit more, that's all. And to be honest, if you don't respect electricity, then you deserve to be zapped. Our primary voltage we work with is 11kV, but we have everything up to 275kV coming in from Port Augusta power station. So it's certainly an interesting place to work. Always something to do. Never boring. How did you go about getting your instro ticket Cruisn? I thought about going for it, but figure it's likely not going to get me much more money once I have the HV switching so never bothered.

Haha, we're not live line workers where we are lol, not allowed to play with it live, there's more than a few rules to doing that, if it needs doing, which it has before, we usually farm the work out to SAPN, who have guys licenced to do glove and barrier work for us, done a few risk assessments for the guys to do 33 live, but the guys were all trained and deemed competent to do it, you'd be amazed how hard it is to get management sign off for that sort of thing lol

Nice, thought about doing it as part of the apprenticeship but then did a stint in with the HV dept up here and enjoyed it enough to reconsider my methods and thought why do an extra 2 years at apprenticeship wages when for a 3 day course I can open just as many doors and get paid as a specialist to boot. Took me a while to get in to the dept, but it was worth the wait (the HV guys don't have a very high turnover of staff where we are)

I guess that's the difference working for the distributor. It's certainly keeps you on your toes when it crackles away as your pliers go across a couple of skirts on the insulator.
