Ok, shes getting booked in for a service at one of the local places in the next couple of weeks - now shes back on daily duties, and I have too much on my plate to be able to spend a day on her, shes going to get some attention from a proper mechanic.

Couple of things that I've noted that need fixing:

Basic 25 thou service

Inside of drivers side F+R tyres are chewed out to this:

Forgive my artistic impression, but you get the idea... I dont have any photos and I'm at work...

All my research points to worn suspension - be it bushes, ball joints or something mechanically wrong/bent. Need to have someone in the know go over it and tell me whats needed.

Also need to get a new set of tyres and have the alignment done once the issue has been rectified.

Clutch issues should be sorted here too. Get them to bleed it down and make it all work properly.

I'm pretty sure there was something else as well, but I can't think what it was now.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Dropped it off this morning and they have told me the flex hose on the clutch is rooted, so they'll be replacing that at some stage. Not sure if they can get one today, so it might be staying there overnight. Haven't heard any other news yet. Pretty keen to have her back.

I probably will down the line, and I would now, but they've sourced it themselves. I'll be happy to just have it back on the road. The factory rubber one has done pretty well to last this long really.
It's one of the downsides to being in the middle of nowhere.

That's cool man, I hadn't looked at it, it's just what they've found this morning. Thanks for the offer! If I run into dramas I'll buy one off you.
I don't think its just that. The fluid needs changing and a good bleed done. It'll be interesting to see what it looked like when I pick her up.

Ive found it best to clamp the cylinder fully retracted with a suitable G clamp when bleeding the clutch.

I've got her back from the mechanics, and everything seems to be ok again besides the clutch friction point being on the floor. Literally as soon as your foot starts rising it's grabbing. Going to be taking it back with a set of instructions on Tuesday (I was going to help them, but work is getting in the way). Pretty much what you fellas have said. G clamp the slave and also try to make it the high point. She has fresh full syn oil and a new genuine filter. They think the alignment is out, but everything I've read online says otherwise. I'll be taking it to a decent suspension place to see what's up after I have a good look myself.

Is it maybe just the rod that needs adjusting in the clutch?

No, I really doubt that's it. The only thing they have fiddled with is the flex line and the fluid. I'm thinking more air in the fluid. Master cylinder is at its max extension before it grabs. Be taking it back with the normal recommendations tomorrow. If I wasn't working, I'd help them out with it. We'll see how it goes when I get it back.

Well I dropped it to the mechanics this morning and got the missus to bring me out the rest of the way to work, see how they go on it this arvo. If I get enthused this weekend, I might throw some heat wrap on the dump pipe that runs past the master, to help with the heat soaked fluid. See how they go with the fluid situation though. Might end up replacing the master if the above mentioned tricks don't help it.

Cheers, Ben

Well, I have got her back. And I now have clutch. They guys said while the G clamp was awkward to keep on the slave, it worked a treat to bleed the air out. The guys got a fair bit of air out of it from what they said. They've also denso wrapped the line to try and keep the heat out. I'll replace that with proper heat wrap this weekend. I've got a roll of it sitting in the shed, waiting for the day I'd need to put it on.
Missus is working one day this weekend by the sounds of it, so I'll take the opportunity to do some work on the old girl.

Ok, some more news. Got the tyres replaced today, together with a wheel alignment. Got the guys to have a good look under the car and see what was going on with the front suspension. Turns out the scalloping of the inner edge of the drivers side tyre is being caused by the LCA bushes being a bit past it. They looked ok on initial inspection, but a closer look revealed some bad news.
OEM bushes are 49.75 each for the fronts (press fit) and 202.50 each for the rears (liquid filled)
Expensive, but it needs it. Both sides were showing signs, but heavier wear on the drivers side. Both bushes are ex Sydney.
Will be doing some more research on pricing over the next couple of days.

Now running the direzza DZ102 tyres. Will let you all know how they go. I was pretty happy with how the last set of tyres went (I think they were toyos... Don't quote me though) but these were pretty cheap (under 200 a corner) and have decent specs.

I would have bit the bullet and thrown whiteline alk bushes in, and either some whiteline or superpro bushes in the front

Mucho cheaper and mucho better

Haven't yet ordered bushes to replace, just found out they need it today. Will have a good look online. Cheers for the tips guys. Will go looking over the weekend.

Edit, just had a look at the links Duncan. Cheers. Will be ordering a set of those shortly I think. $35.60 sounds a lot better than $252.25.... And now you mention it I remember Mark being quite happy with the results from Febest.

Bushes are made in Germany to oem spec's. Cant see a problem with that and couldnt tell the difference to oem in look or feel once installed.  :)
