Cbf reading the previous pages to see if its been covered, but for the Gen2 2.5, a GC8 WRX exhaust manifold is a direct bolt on and unequeal length in design.

My Gen2 Outback sounds like a WRX currently. :D

For the 2.2, just get some off Ebay.......

Cruisin speaks the truth.

As for the gen 2 2.5l, the wrx headers also need a new bung for the o2 sensor as they don't have one. I'd also recommend using OEM GC8 WRX headers as the flange that mates up with the the up-pipe (or the rest of the exhaust on an NA 2.5l) on aftermarket headers can differ and may not bolt up to the rest of your exhaust.

My GC8 headers had the o2 bung in there, exact position as the ej25 headers. I dont know what specific year they are, just stated GC8 when bought.

Im going to go WRX headers now, just for giggles. May as well do the whole system. :D

This set, meant to be bolt up to oem up pipe...

Good to know. mine were off either a 99 or 2000 model wrx but had no bung. If i remember right the bung was on the up-pipe.

The EJ25 in the Gen 3 is SOHC and plenty available..

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Look on NASIOC in the Naturally Aspirated forum, lots of talk etc about different headers (custom, off shelf etc).

hey guys, i dont know much about the whole exhaust system but i just recently purchased a 97 rx and one mate of my mates has a gx with uel headers and a 2.25" catback system and sounds amazing.. but my other mate claims that a slip on 3" exhaust pipe will make the same noise? is he joking or not?

It will not have the boxer rumble without the UEL headers.
