Cheers Marv,

Will look out for that.

Been tempted by built 255 but a new 207 is going to be a far easier swap assuming a set of reco'd sti heads with new springs etc. oh and better maf sensor
Have a spare manifold sorted (tgv delete and stripped out tgv wiring engine loom, parallel rails etc.) so thats good to go. TD06 or similar would be my pick as well. I've had a look at the avo400l and sr40 on the 207 and they show some promise. So many ways to skin a cat so to speak.

The 255 is more work, but a lot more torque. I had a turn in a mate's converted Gen1 GX Lib the other night and it has made me think HARD about building a 2.5. His specs are:

EJ255
Pauter rods
CP pistons with modded oil rings, lightened and heat-coated, too (can't remember comp ratio)
Symms Power EL headers
ARC sump
04 Spec C heads w/AVCS, enlarged to suit 2.5 bore & mildly ported
04 Spec C intake manifold (no TGVs)
550 injectors
TD06-20G

He had some epic issues to start with - his brand new 255 short motor had a 3thou taper in it, plus his crank had 2 journals that were higher than all the others (causing major deck height issues). Now its sorted it is going like a freight train though (even without AVCS working)

Cheers Marv, good information as always.
Plenty of time till a new engine. Want to build it right and as one for one replacement. So many choices!

ACL Bearings and ARP headstuds too?

Cheers guys.

I would go with ACL Race bearings and ARP studs. Now, my mate went with tougher L19 studs in 12mm. Apparently theyre bringing out a tougher style now to replace L19

Was it a stock bore or sleeved? and what was the output?

The only thing I really havent looked into is the suitability of the factory ecu for running a 2.5. Have any pointers?

Its a stock bore mate. No sleeves, dowels amd semi closed deck. Dont know its actual power as it hasnt been on the dyno. Easily over 200 @ wheels though.

Can your ecu be flashed? Ecu choices comes down to your tuner. I rate

Yeah ecu is flashable. Will have to do some more searching and see if it can handle the 2.5. No avcs with that ecu but thats ok

Jaycar speedo corrector MKII and Pivot auto shift lamp installed.

After the 6mt install the speedo was well out so I built and fitted a jaycar speedo adjuster which has fixed the issue nicely.

While the instrument cluster was out a Pivot shift light was installed in to the cluster.
Led holder was stripped out and with the combined magic of a panel light pipe, led, dremel and spare cluster panel the following was created.
The pivot shift light control box was secured nicely inside the dash with some velcro tape.

Been wondering if it was possible to have a shift light like the STI's does yours beep aswell? Probably wouldn't be too hard to ad a beeper in.

Nice work :)

Love the shift light install.

I was wondering what I'll do when I loose my current SARD Attack Meter setup.

Now I have an idea :)

BTW. How good are sixslotters? I am in lurrrrrve!

Thanks gents.

No beeper, just wanted the light. A piezo circuit would be easy enough to wire in though if that takes your fancy.

6MT drivetrain is better than expected. The big difference is long corners on full boost. The car no longer scrabbles for traction with oversteer. It just grips and yells HOLD THE FK ON! Real lsd's ftw!

Positive camber anyone?

But seriously that is not good at all!!

On another note, you don't happen to work in Nunawading do you?

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?
