Crossbreed has a very cool Brumby. I saw it in his shed a couple months ago.
Tony, in case you were wondering who you almost ran over in front of ChipTorque on Lawerence Drive yesterday around lunch time, that was me. :D
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

I recognize this Brumby - up for sale now isn't it?

For a snorkel try out a pajero NJ - NK - NH plastic snorkel. You can heat the elbow and bend it to the shape of the A pillar you need. I did it with my L series. The only problem with the MYs is that the guard is rolled a little more as in its less square than the L series and the support pillar behind the guard extends forward further than the L. This would have to be cut to allow the pipe into the inner guard area.

From there you'd have to work out how to plumb it into the engine intake.

Do some research and take your time in the modification and it'll come up sweet as ;)

Cheers

Hey Bennie, glad you bumped this up.   no shes not for sale. but i have dragged her out for a fresh round of mods

take a wild guess whats going on here....

..

yep something like that.. i will be converting the Brumby into a comfortable streeter, with the power and handling to keep it fun.

basicily transferring all the running gear out of the S13 into the Brumby.

plus i will be styling it off the American BRAT! rear jump seats, side steps, badges, decals and all. will be either the Blue, or a burnt orange  on R32 GTR 16x8's

So you're moving away from the subaru engine/drivetrain?  Or keeping a subi engine?

If you're keeping a subi engine and going rear wheel drive, apart from beefing up the rear end to take the punishment of RWD and the "habits" that come with driving RWD, you can get trans adaptors for the W series toyota gearboxes so your gearbox won't go band in a short time.

Checkout the build here.  It's 24 pages long, somewhere in there are order details, although I don't know if they're still taking orders.  But if you're going with the whole drivetrain from the S13 you won't need one of those.

I'll be interested to see how it all fits up.

Cheers

Bennie

so over the weekend i was playing around with the SR into the Brumby.

10686687_10152716550072104_6804597960464

the fit was not what i had in-visioned. it sits more forward and alot higher than i was anticipating :-/  you "could" make it work my spacing the crossmember down 3-4", but thats something im trying to avoid.

so a re-vised plan was needed.  i already have the EJ20, loom, ecu, box, diff and everything to bolt it into the brumby. so i will be going with that and put the money into making her look pretty.

i have managed to source the discontinued Crossbred kit so i can bolt the Subaru Disk brakes all round, and moves the handbrake to the rear wheels. will source some WRX 16's that clear 4pots

I knew I'd sen this build before - Ausubi has a build thread along the same lines as here but under a different user name - not you?

You could mod the engine crossmember or run an oversized "bonnet scoop" to cover the engine ;)

Hi Tony,

Uncle has a brumby up on Sunshine Coast/Nambour. Might be good for parts, apparently a fair bit of rust though. Let me know and I'll chase his number for you.

Hey El_Freddo  im Green-eyed_Liberty on AUSubaru (antique name from a long sold car)

now that the Forester is sold and gone to its new home, i have stepped back into a Brumby.

(i still have the blue one, but after a fair few 4x4 expeditions she's a little beaten up)

picked up a red T top in pretty good spanking condition,  but i simply cannot leave it stock and enjoy it in its stock form.. it needs to be TWEAKED

the new BRAT is now running the crossbred kit, wrx hubs, 4/2 pots with slotted rotors, GC8 STI pinks, custom driveshafts, 16" Simmons, XT Forester E-Brake, Nardi wheel, D-Din unit etc etc

Awesome, I hadn't put two and two together!

That targa looks way better than mine!

Personally I'm not a fan of that style of white rims, but I know others will be!

Can't wait to see how you go with compliance for those rear jump seats - a great score from the states!

Cheers

Nice front dam mate!

Look after that! If anything I'd be making a fibreglass mould and running with that as I'd be too scared to damage an original unit. Keep it for show days etc.
