Want me to send you mine, then you keep it and send me yours when it shows?
I won't need one for a while anyways.

I quite often fill the system through the disconnected heater hose. The heater core should sould always be flushed seperately when replacing the coolant and, if fitted, remove the block drain.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I did this tonight actually Jason.

I didn't remove the block drain though.

Heaps of gas tonight. But I think I'm winning.

Thanks bj

but I've made another makeshift bottle which works better than the coke bottle, using a mobil brake fluid bottle, and an old whiteline balljoint polyurethane boot.

Works OK so far, and has resisted heat warpage, but it needs more volume.

When i leave my driveway and go over the gutter plus brake slightly, i can hear water sloshing around.

Where is the air con drain pipe? I'll check that before trying a bleed.

AC drain pipe is a small Jose which points under the engine. Jack the car up and have a squiz.

If you're hearing a waterfall behind the dash, you'll need to bleed the system though.

Definitely no waterfall. I start my car in the morning with air con and radio off.

There's water slushing in a tank behind the dash.

Any idea?

Had the same problem with my gen 2 liberty. No matter how much it was bled, something would make a noise.

Heater core is behind there.

Bleed system. It'll probably go away ;)

It's the overflow tube. I didn't clamp it last time I bled the system and it still worked fine.

Morgan - i drove it up onto the pavement to elevate the front right hand corner - truned on - heating up full - just let it idle for 15 minutes - revving it a couple of time and topping up - worked a treat thanks so much

however - after a couple of days it came back - think i will do it again and up the revs a bit and run it for longer or do think i have a leak somewhere that is letting air into the system - i can live with the noise as i dont really want to spend $600 having subaru take off the dash which is what they said they would have to do as they didnt know what was causing it

It took me nearly an hour to completely bleed the last time I did it.
Just when you think you are done, more bubles.

Yeah it can take ages to fully get all the air out. A leak could be the culprit though...

I just have a tip I read in Fast Fours mag or similar a couple years back, I think it's a pain that as the cooling system heats up the coolant spills out where you just poured it in at the top of the radiator...and just as more bubbles come out. So the article was referring to wrx's, they got a Gatorade bottle or similar, cut the very bottom off it and put the top of it in the top of the radiator ( was a neat fit) taped it up so as to stop coolant from leaking around it and stop it falling over. This allowed the coolant to rise into the bottle but sufficient time for air to escape without loosing as much\any coolant.
