Carpet ban? Isn't the term blanket ban? Lol

Anyway I'm undecided on if it's a good or a bad thing. Yeah people new to driving probably shouldn't be driving big hp cars until they learn how to drive on the road amongst the rest of society. There's so much more to driving well on the road than just knowing the rules and being about to use a clutch. It takes a few years to learn that.
But I've seen some pretty horrendous accidents involving novice drivers in some pretty pathetically powered cars. A 1976 Corolla liftback will still do 120 in a 60 zone afterall.
Dickheads will be dickheads until they've learnt the hard way( some even then, still don't get it). I don't think the car has that much to do with it.

Sig worthy.

I disagree.

Carpet ban on all turbos for juniorburgers is good.

Not trying for an e-battle here (you're too easy), but there's multiple reasons for this. Let's not change it.

Do your time. Learn to appreciate all that there is with road rules and legalities. Then buy a turbo car which you will appreciate all that much more.

Not trying to start an E-Battle either (you're impossible to beat) but how can you argue that a carpet ban is better than a power to weight ratio (125kw/Tonne)
P platers in NSW are banned from low power turbo cars (such as a GTI golf, with 110kw) but it is fully legal for them to drive high powered v6's such as an xr6 with 196kw?
P platers being allowed to drive a Turbo Diesel BMW 535d with 220kw, or a diesel audi v12 with 368kw but not able to drive any form of low power Turbo.

Obviously i have used extremes to get my point across, but i cannot understand a law that allows this.

I agree with a law that is set to save lives, but i don't think that a carpet ban is the right one.
The ratio of road deaths among P platers in Victoria (where a Power to weight ban is in place) is lower than that in NSW.

I agree with you, to a very limited degree. I agree that the laws do need reviewing.

I still believe juniorburgers shouldn't be driving turbocharged or NA performance cars.

They're too easy to tweak to make them faster.

I reckon it should drop to 100kw/t. Plenty of power.

It's not a total solution to the problem, and as Sublime has mentioned... you still have dickheads in low performance cars getting themselves into messy situations. But at least its better than dickhead drivers in high performance cars.

Not to confuse dickhead drivers with juniorburgers, although you do get a combination chowmein of the two often, but noobs should get to know the ins and outs of driving out in public and society, whilst learning to apply the laws of physics, whilst understanding the effects puberty, hormones and the adrenalin response have with it all.

I still agree with the law that P platers should be banned from all engine modifications that require a engineers certificate. Which would slightly moderate the engine tweaking to make them faster, However, engine tweaking would raise the power over 125kw/tonne, but then arises the problem of testing P plater cars. This is where i believe much greater penalties should come into place. Im not going to suggest any specific penalties because im in no place to.

The main point is that we need to weed out the dickhead drivers. Im not going to sit here and act like Mr. Perfect, I speed quite often, Not excessively, and do not drive dangerously.
I feel, and have actually mentioned that all New P platers should be put through and advanced and defensive driving course, to teach them how to handle such situations. Some insurance companies offer this, (NRMA does i think) but it should be mandatory. Many lives could be saved, but are lost due to inexperience.

Also, in response to
"whilst learning to apply the laws of physics, whilst understanding the effects puberty, hormones and the adrenalin response have with it all."

I totally agree with this part, Most Young people (myself included somewhat) want to experience going fast, want to go sideways, want to do all this stupid hooning stuff, but have nowhere to do so other than public roads. Young drivers should be made aware on places (tracks) where they can legally have fun in their cars, and not present the risk of killing innocent drivers on the road.

Obviously we care about dickhead p platers killing themselves on the road, but the fact is, they are killing many innocent drivers because of their stupidity.

Jordan.

It's called Eastern Creek. WSID. (Western Sydney International Dragway)

Wednesday nights, you can drag race.
Fridays, once a month, there's drifting and skid pan.

Get on it!!

I know this Alex,
I said we should aware other P platers so they don't do this shit on the road.

But anyway.
/Rant
-Laws should be revised to be more logical
-Innocent Lives should be saved
-Defensive driving courses should be mandatory.

This is the thing. You can build world class facilities like WSID every 5 km all around Australia... And it still won't stop juniorburgers (or old hoons) going all fucktard on the streets.

I dont agree.
I know i have those urges to hoon on the road, but i know its not safe/legal, and i dont have the experience. I know i cant speak for all of us, but i for one wouldn't care where i got my thrill.

It may not stop people speeding, but the burnouts/skids/fail drifting would almost stop im sure.

V8 supercar drive was epic fun.

Never driven on a track before. Great track too.

The car was definitely limited somehow, sounded bloody angry and mean but the B4 could of chopped them without slick tyres. Lots of torque though.

They had a strange brake set-up on the front, 2 calipers!

Not a huge circuit but just touched 200 on the straight.

Did you drive this, or were you a passenger, and you've decided to tell us that you drove only because none of us would be the wiser except for me?

I drove for 5 laps. :)

I enjoyed my rally drive a bit more though, you were allowed to go sideways.

I fish-tailed once today but that was it. Hard with slick tyres.

The pro driver said I had great car control. haha must have been my practice this morning on the PS3.

Grill looks tops man. You need to do the bottom with black mesh to match!

Also, if anyone wants a $400 gen 1 wagon that needs a new clutch.
