So I bought myself a '97 Outback Limited auto as a work and surf car.

Ive got a soft spot for Gen2's and love the look of the chunkier Outback and I found a prime example.

The car was owned by an elderly couple and is 100% original. Its NEVER missed a service from new and always serviced at Subaru right up until 6000kms ago. Every repair recommendation on a service was fixed at the next service with reports to prove it. Has just had the motor out with new rear main seal, crank seal, cam seals and rocker cover seals and timing belt done also.

The car is super tight and idles and drives like new. Only 2 issues which is an o2 sensor and electric aerial doesnt go down unless you push the top to start it. These will be rectified in a day or two.

Interior is 9 out of 10 and exterior is 8 out of 10, but I'll have it to a 9.5 shortly. :D

Mods will be mostly tidy ups with a few little additions to make it a neatly presented daily.

Mods so far...

Removed Outback grill badge, tailgate Limited and AWD badges
De-oranged front indicators
Made number plate bracket to raise front plate 70mm out of the lower air dam
Tailored f&r floor mats
Roof rail cross bars

Mods to come...

Gen4 Liberty GT 17's - tomorrow
New discs / pads - tomorrow
20% window tint - next week
PDR - next week
Lowered 30mm - next week
Fujitsubo diff back - on its way from Japan
Front bar - on its way from Japan
Rear bar - respray in the near future

Stock.....

You know Mark, I've secretly been hoping you'd buy yourself an Outback only because I'd love to see what you do with one. You've got this whole modding process down to an art-form.

Will this be taking a trip up to Noosa? ;)

Cheers guys.

The list above will be it. It'll be super clean like the others, but not modded to the same extent.

Something Im not bothered taking on dirt roads when going surfing unlike the Gen4.

I like not being too low to the ground for a change.

The list above will be it.

I'm sure it will be :P But nah, it looks like a real neat example. A lot of those Gen2 Outbacks are fairly beaten up so you've picked a good one!

Just quickly - what front bar are you getting? I didn't think there were any other choices for the Gen2 OBK.

How are you fixing the aerial? Mine has busted the plastic inside that makes it go up an down. Though I suspect yours isn't that bad.

So tempted for OUTBACK!

Yeh it is super neat. I'll post interior pics on the weekend.

Bar is just a standard one. Front one needs a respray badly, but I found a mint one on IM with foggies cheaper than the cost of a respray. Figure I'll sell the foggies to recoup some costs. :D

Mine still goes up no worries, just needs a tap to go down. I'll pull it out in the next few days and investigate. If no love, I'll just get another.

Here we go again :)

Nice score Mark.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?
