Also, the runway at Charters Towers is nearly 1800m in length, used extensively during WW2, they even has A-20's there.

judging by that pic, there is actually 4 runways there. 10/28 and at a guess Id say 14/32.
Thats a pretty decent sized airfield. About the same size as Bunbury really.

Lockheed electra, Dehavilland caribou, couple of C47's, some nice looking gliders in that pic also.

Williing to bet you could charter a flight out of there if you really wanted to.

thatd be one of the gliders then. Gliding is 'ing awesome. if anyone ever gets the chance to do it, I would strongly recommend it. I solo'd gliders when i was 16.

Thermalling with eagles! sooo much win. Ive been in a strong thermal with 7 other gliders and at least 2 massive eagles. At one point I had an eagle about 2m above my canopy. Was possibly the most awesome natural experience ive ever had.
