Our fireplace has the outer flue, basically touching te timber frame. I'm wondering if that's ok, it I there should be some clearance or insulation or something.

It's also sitting up and on top of one of the timbers, which I'm planning on fixing.

Looks pretty shit house. Think I might need a pro in. And I think it needs moving. It's scary to think, the house hasnt burnt down. All the timber around is charred

Let me re explain. Outer flue is using the timber as support. But it's above the timber. So the timber is also acting as a shield!
