That's a good point Nik. Should I expect double time as a casual working on a public holiday? I've got a filter to do today.
Double time and a half even, depending on the industry. Do you know what work rate code you're on? I can check it, I have a login to the government site that Alisha uses.
I'm on the employers side, but it's not the employees fault that the government has done this. And what did all us small business owners say to the government? We will be forced to close under this structure because noone can afford to pay a two and a half time increase on a day that isn't guaranteed to be a two and a half times more profitable opening - ESPECIALLY in our current worry wart climate.
So now, casual staff are getting a LOT LESS (nothing), because I'm closing the kitchen.
I don't feel like an arsehole either. Just feel that my hand has been forced.
Shitty thing is, we have people in the chalets, so me and Dad are cooking breakfast this morning...
