Little bit more cleaning and shit this morning.

I attacked my AE86 steering arms with a bit of course sandpaper and a fresh coat of VHT Heat Proof Gloss Black. Claybarred the roof bonnet and boot. Then polished it with my orbital buff. Came out okayyyyyy, but I think its going to need a respray down the track. The paint has just seen 30 years of abuse so its almost beyond repair. Initial color thought is a deep vibrant silver, with a satin black bonnet and black fender mirrors.

Also razor bladed the wfront and back windscreens, then buffed the glass. Came out schmick. Few chips and stuff in the glass, but overall okay. Still has original glass in the windshield as there is a australian standards date sticker adhered under the glass.

Hi,

That's less original than respraying in original.

So wheels have now been ordered through CarModsAus.

Excellent service from Dan. Awesome price too. And free delivery :) Couldn't reccomend them high enough.

So what I ended up with was some Rota Shakotans in 15 x 8 +0 offset. Also got a few different tyre options going as well.

Going to chuck some 185/55/15s on and see if they are stretched enough. If not, will go for a 195/45/15 and see what they go like. Getting Falken ZE912s, for a grand total of $80 per tyre, brand new. Hahaha.

Fsck I love how cheap shiat is for this rig.

Shazza

Yeah, I had a look at the quad light setup, but I'm planning on leaving the big spotties on, and then changing from flat face to quad lights will just look a bit silly IMO. Plus, its around a $900 job to change the whole front end, which, could be better spent on a set of TODA camshafts or high compression flat top wiseco pistons to suit 20V. :walts:

Yeah, you need to change not just the headlights and grill, but the whole radiator reo and mounting positions and brackets etc etc, and it apparently isn't a cheap job if you use OEM Toyota parts (which is a must IMO).

I'm looking for a RWD config motor if I can find one already done. Saves having to change the water lines and all the other stuff you need to change to turn it from FWD to RWD config. If its RWD already, see what pricing he is looking at. Has to have full, uncut loom and ECU too but.

Shazza

You miss out on the good motors like the blacktop doing that, unless you pick up one that someone else has molested. Although I dig why you'd rather one already setup, sounds like a fair bitch to convert.

Also for lights, this.

Woah $4k for vinyl? Might as well go for a full spray for that.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Luke, I'd more then likely try and find a whole "conversion kit" for sale then stuff around with individual parts. They can be had for engine box tail shaft and diff for around the $1500 mark.

Will check that headlight website out tomoz, tried on the fruit phone and it was rubbish.

Cheers,
Shazza

Shaz,
Update on overheating issue?

The bloke obviously has a shite-load of cash.

Not sure a $4k respray would be up to speed for a near new GTR.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
