You just need to cut a few coils off, and because of the spring rate on them, coupled with the Koni short stroke shocks, they stay captive, and are perfectly fine.

Wont the spring rate be way too high? And then cutting them ups the rate even higher.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Jase,

Apparently they are a bit stiff, but ill try it out and if it's too much, I'll just get some custom ones done.

I want to cut them, fit them and get the height right first, and then down the track, I'll send them off and get a proper set made with better spring rates.

Cheers,
Shazza

Yeah I know not everyone is gunna be a fan, but from all accounts, its definitely not unsafe. Its either that, $250 now for custom springs, (which may or may not be the right height, as I don't have anything to go off) or a set of $1k coilovers that are height adjustable.

Considering the coilover cost is almost the same price as the purchase price of the car, AU Falcon springs is the easiest path to go down, for the time being, until I get the height levels correct.

Plus, its epicz hekkiz bro for mad skidz ayyyyy.

Cheers,
Shazza

Shaz,

You should always remember, that with every great automotive project (and don't say this isn't a sweet project) you shouldn't be comparing modification costs against initial vehicle purchase costs.

Firstly, you got the KE70 for a fantastically cheap price.
Secondly, $1000 for coil overs is also a good price.

Save the coin. Eat 2minute noodles. You know which to buy.

4AGE > custom coilovers > Falcon Springs

:)

Don't worry, they aren't staying cut for long. Just long enough to get the height right so I can post em off and get the right one made for $239.

Didn't miss the point, but I was just saying that instead of buying AU falcon springs, wasting 30 minutes of beer drinking time cutting them and pay $50 less for a set of custom made springs compared to kings. Why not just drink beer order king springs off ebay drink more beer and then put them in.

Cheers,
Zach.

King springs have one set spring rate that is rubbish for what I want. Customs will be done EXACTLY how I want them.

Also, $30 falcon springs to get height right + custom springs at $240 with the correct spring rate is still going to be cheaper then the Kings.

Zach....... I think I like you...... that is a lot of beer in that post.... beer = good.

I can see what shaz is doing, I don't see an issue if he is trying to work out what heights and rates he wants the springs at :D

Ultimately, Coilovers would be best.

But alas, I can't fathom forking out cash to get custom rear coilovers done (especially since the rear isn't a macpherson strut setup in the first place) unless the setup I have in mind turns out to be ridiculously shithouse.

The main reason I wanna go customer spring rates along with adj panhard rod and all that jazz, is to limit tramping upon wheelspin.

Ben - Keen. Need GoPro, and bribe security guard outside Pharmacare. Hahaha.
