There are lots on cai's on eBay or you can make your own. Very easy job to install yourself

It will just make the car louder if you're after the rumble you will need uneven length headers. Your not going get anything huge power wise from it either.

thanks for the info guys, i'm not after increase in power just to mainly make it sound nice, being tht i have lost my liscence 3 times already for speeding i thought the non turbo liberty would be a nice fun car to drive around in,

just got it yesterday and it arrives thursday so i am just trying to figure out some minor things i can do to it, other than brakes and suspension that is..

has anyone else got a 02 liberty rx manual?? how do they drive for a non turbo?? can't wait to get it, test drive was good but didnt have the chance to get out on the highway and around some windy roads to see what it can really do..

Forget about a "cold air intake". Absolutely pointless on an NA Lib and even questionable on a turbo.

Spend the money on some uneven length headers, to bring out the boxer rumble. Keep the oem centre pipe and get a 2 1/4 inch diff back sports exhaust/muffler.

That will give you the noise you want without it droning or sounding like your engine is pushing out a wet, loose fart.

+1

Congrats on the purchase

CAIs are a waste of time. Do the exhaust, as mentioned above with UELs & a decent muffler.
It will sound sweet but wont improve power any.

Suspension upgrades are the way to go, best thing to invest in.

Spend your money on a good service. Plugs, Leads, UEC, Fuel treatment, Oil, Filter, Coolant, Brake and clutch fluid and both gearbox/diff oils. + a good check over for bits that may need replacing.

Best "mod" you will do. Then enjoy and wait for the turbo bug to bite you again. Nek minnut, Engine conversion.

This.

I have this setup (probably because I bought it from SUBARU :P) and it works well.
My only complaint is that it sounds too much like a WRX!

Forget the CAI.
I tested our FG XR6 ute on the dyno. With the air filter removed and the dyno fan blowing cold air down the intake it made an extra 2Kw. (that's right 2Kw)

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Only benifit of CAI is on a turbo car for hearing some turbo spool and hektik flutterz as it makes the bitchez scream :).....
also a must to clear fmic piping....or recomended due to flow if youre pushing over 230-240kwatw...............though im sure youre not doing any of these yet

But if its what you want...its your car to do with what you will ;)... dont let anyone stop ya

As i agree a CAI on an N/A is pointless, id just remove the resonator box and plumb some pipe from the airbox to the front snorkel..thatll give a tiny bit more noise...i had this on my old engine and loved it

And they are the kings of engine conversions when you wanna step up to a turbo

..........I've seen several threads on here where people who have done a simple CAI; removing the resonators, and not necesarily directing the pipe into the guard, claiming a positive effect upon fuel economy.. I'd say that's reason enough to do it and then to test out any change :)

I put one on my old Gen II, didnt seem to do anything other then make more induction noise (which is what i was after)..

Just DIY yourself one and save the $$$$ for servicing. The car will feel much better with all new fluids in it.
