Old age is messin' with my mind.
The white one with the rear louvres was his girls car if i'm not mistaken.
Benny, why so harsh. LOLOLOLOL
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

I honestly wish id bough a **** box and saved every penny I had instead of spending it on a half decent car when i was on my P's. Save your pennys and buy a car with good power straight out of the box when you can and add to that.

Seriously if you're on your P's, put a loud exhaust on it so it sounds tough, spend a little time on the exterior and interior so it looks nice and leave it at that, this is what most young guys here have done in the past until they were legal or rich enough to buy a turbo. Don't worry about power output.

Nick

Agreed :)

I'll see what I can get done and how much power i can pull out with mild mods, I usually get my parts for cheap/free so i wouldn't be spending much, and hey i have a passion for cars so why not just try :P

I don't want to be disparaging... but HAHAHAHAHA!

Dude, it's an NA Subaru.

Your RX is probably lucky to see 80kW at the wheels right now.

'Mild [cheap] mods' include an exhaust, suspension, air intake, and maybe brakes?

You'll be lucky to see 85 with all that.

Take the advice people are giving you.

Do these mods by all means, but don't expect any gains.

Pretty sure it was Mordue who just got his NA SG Forester tuned.

Driveability is chalk and cheese. So much nicer to drive now, apparently.

However, there were zero power gains.

You seriously will be better off throwing your money into a fire pitt.

Instead of trying to squeeze 3kW out of your Liberty, save your cash and buy a turbo charged car when you can.

Mate i've had my share of NA liberty's... my first was a 98 RX with the 25D... the head gasket will go on you for sure... so keep the body tidy, do the suspension well... bushes too... and save that money your going to waste on a STI conversion when the head gasket goes...

if your able to do the work on the NA, could you do the conversion yourself? least that way you'd have a nice handling, nice looking ride, that goes...

i've now got a B4 and the torque difference between NA and Turbo will have you doing cartwheels before the speed gets you....

1st 1990 Nissan Pulsar Q. What a rocket!
2nd: Gen 2 RX... Loved and lost...
3rd: 1995 Toyota Corolla which drove from Cairns to Bunbury in 5 Days! 6610km!!! didnt miss a beat.
4th: Gen1 GX bought for $500 went like stink... looked like what caused the stink
5th: More civilized now... with a Heritage Wagon... now gone...
6th Mitsubishi KJ Verada..."its nothing like a suby" now gone...
7th: 2002 B4 Liberty TT....

8th: MY04 Subaru Liberty GT Premium Pack Wagon

^^ as Niko said,

I'm not telling you what to do but DON'T spend any money on the engine!!!
Spend your money where it will make a great difference while having fun during it.

If you're on your P's like I am, you will have alot more fun spending your money on suspension/handling with supporting mods.
E.G. Coilovers, Swaybars, Strutbraces, WRX brakes, Seats, Wheels with good tires!

When you have finished your P's sell your car or if you love it, its conversion time!
I'm weeks away from my Opens here in QLD and im about to do a 300kW+ STI motor swap and boy you will get alot more fun doing it this way then wasting money as a P plater :)
Just my two cents

Jake.

Spend your money on whatever you want. It's just nobody on here knows much about performance NA EJ series engines because none of them are stupid enough to go down that road.

If I was in your position though, I would rebuild the engine to standard specs with new seals, timing belt, water pump and clutch.

Drive it around for two years saving money for your new turbo car when getting your fulls comes around.

And when you have to sell your liberty, You will be able to sell it for a decent price because it's had some major mechanical work done. As long as it's clean and ticks all the boxes for the new owner.

Do what you please though, It's your money.

I'm not a tard, just want my lib to be a little more fun to drive, as much as look aesthetically pleasing, as inexperienced as i am with a ej25d, I'd still love to have the challenge of pulling out some more power along with the improved throttle response and smoothness of the ride, i'm keeping this for another 2 years atleast so i want it to be something that suits my driving style
