Back in 1976 both my mother and father having owned many Holdens decided that it was time to update there tired old Kingswood wagon.
So they saw this LX Torana hatchback SL with a 253 or 4.2 litre V8 for people that dont know cubic inches in a car dealership and went ahead and bought it. It was my parents one car and my old mans daily drive right up till when he died almost 11 years ago. After that both my brothers drove it on there P's then the car went into storage for 7 years. October last year I got off my P's and decided that I wanted to get the car back on the road.
My parents are the first and original owners of this car.
Just before it went into storage my mum had the car completely resprayed and all the chrome re done.
Now thankfully because my old man was a panel beater he had the nack to really look after the car and the cars body is in great condition for its age. The car has only ever been in one accident where my mum reversed it into a pole.
In November I had the car brought out of storage and took it to my mechanics. Surprisingly the list of road worthy items was only about 12 things. Most of them being rubbers that have perished over time like suspension bushes etc.
Needing to change the passenger door rubber I decided to change the drivers rubber as well and found surface rust on the underneath of the passenger door and hole rust on the underneath of the drivers door. Luckly the drivers door is only small and easy to get rid of.
I got a sound system off my mum for Chrissy and have started putting that into it.
Right now the car is at the mechanics getting about half the list checked off.
Im going to get the car "Club Registered" which is cheaper than standard rego and are lest stringent on what has to be done.
Heres some pics of her

My old man liked to add different things to the car like little Kenworth round truck lights in each corner of the body of the car and also added a Statesman emblem to the bonnet among other things.
Will post up more pics as the restoration continues.
Cheers
Chris
