British engineering....what could possibly go wrong But nah, jokes aside it sounds like a really good project to me!Just needs a bit of TLC which is the perfect project for dad and I who aren't particularly mechanical. But hey, it's a 52 year old British car... how hard could it be?
Will you keep it the original colour or change it? Reckon you'll sell it once finished or keep it in the family?
I showed my dad these pics. His late father use to have one of these way back in the day. Its what started my dads passion for cars, which in turn is the reason why I love cars so much.

Might have to take him for a spin when it's done
Re the colour - yes and no..! Keeping it the original colour and getting it back to the original colour are two different things
It rolled out of the factory in BRG so yes, we'd REALLY like to get it back to original but no, we're not going to keep the red that you see in the pics!
We've been doing plenty of research and at the moment, we'd like the complete car to be British Racing Green with a tan interior and possibly a custom walnut (real wood) dash. If the walnut is to farfetched, it will be either black or colour coded BRG. Found a wooden MG steering wheel last night which would go nicely
Something like these -

I'll try and find some pictures of Dad's MGA. It was cocaine on guts, very nice. Perfect car for classic rallies out and about in the hills. Used to have a ball. Then when he got the XK140 he did the same scheme! I think that's why I've always like that look.
Green and tan is very English though. Indeed.
Cheers,
Nik

Innit!
Dash shouldn't be too hard to get

Our red was very poorly done. Orange peel everywhere, rust coming through, scratches and stuff all over. It's more of an orangey red, too which isn't too easy on the eyes
BRG FTW!

What scheme was your old man's, Nik?
Sorry Morgs! Cocaine on guts = White exterior with red interior. Did have walnut dash. Black soft top.

Nik

Pics? Stat!
I do like the sound of that.. If we weren't going back to original, I'd definitely vote for white
Any pics of the walnut dash? Need some inspiration!

100% perfect colour combo right there. Nailed it!We've been doing plenty of research and at the moment, we'd like the complete car to be British Racing Green with a tan interior and possibly a custom walnut (real wood) dash.

Fine, I'll provide something worthy to be in this topic. I really do like the colour scheme. Is the BRG and tan interior a normal thing that is done to these cars or do they have more of a different scheme? What colours would they have been released with from factory?
Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Gazza, here's an original colour chart however BRG is missing? Weird because on our MG plaque in the engine bay, it clearly say, 'B. R. Green'.
Another link with colours available with different models and interior colours, etc
http://mgaguru.com/m...paint/pt105.htm
Again, they don't mention BRG? Unless it wasn't available in the US and this chart is from a US site?

Anyway, 1986 was the last year it was registered. 27 years ago! Hectic!
