Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting a new exhaust for my Outback H6.

Not 100% sure, but I think there are about one or two O2 sensors along the pipes; How does an exhaust shop get around that? Would they be able to do a custom exhaust incorporating the existing sensors?

I don't want the car chucking codes at me.

It'll be very droney mate.

Go 2.5" just after the cats. No need to re-located anything then :)

That's 3" from the catback and manual. 2.5" and it may still drone a bit with the auto.

Miss that outback after watching those :P

Yeah, they'll just weld in O2 sensor bungs where required to retain all factory sensor locations - no biggie.

Do it! The h6 sounds Porschee with an exhaust!

Thanks for the advise Cam & Tim.

Cam, do you reckon it'll be okay given I've got a Varex and can shut it up? Or would it still drone?

The Varex makes it sound like a hybrid which is actually pretty good because its not always you want it singing.

I can't wait to get one installed. How much is it setting you back Shiv? So 3" from the catback is all that's needed to get that sound in the second video?

I don't like varex mufflers. I like the idea of using them at idle to remove attention from your exhaust.

But, Driving with them. I would never do such a thing.

It'll be a nasty drone with light load on the engine.

^yes - on an NA, no need to do any more than 2.5" cat back. I would be putting a resonator in to get the exhaust sounding deeper and minimising drone too.

So I'm aiming for 2.5" from the catback, as well as a resonator. Sweet.

I'll stop hijacking the topic and create my own (or possibly use my build thread) when I'm definitely ready to install one. Thanks guys.

Righto thanks for the advise lads. I'll have a chat with the exhaust shop and see what they can do RE: drone.

I'm just tossing up the idea is all.

I've been quoted $250, Garry. Please feel free to use this thread Garry. No harm getting some ideas going.

Im guessing its mild steel. My mild steel cat back cost the same amount + cost of the muffler

Carline Gladesville. Good mob. Used them before for my Varex muffler. Some of the guys there have Subaru's so they know them well.

$250 was just for a cat back. No muffler included. Maybe I need to double check that with them.

Garry!*

Sorry did I get your name right?

I've seen people call you many names on this forum :P Not my fault, haha!

It's Garry! with one 'r'. But SOME PEOPLE, not naming names Chamillionaire, have made it auto-change when people type it.

Overall it does sound good. Gotta start putting money aside for one I think.
