Will sound similar
I do remember. Thanks for the link.
From what has been said already in this thread your looking to spend as little as possible... correct?
Not as little as possible, but I am going for one of the options I have put in the poll. $770 is the most I'd want to spend on the exhaust for now.

Plus the $770 for the exhaust system, I'll be looking at $1,515. Can't afford that much at the moment. I'd either have to get headers or the exhaust for now.

Needs a tune to run them.
Really? I though you'd just need the tune to get the most out of them.
Ok, scrap that idea!

From what I understand, it will detonate it's head off without a tune.
Subaru engines don't detonate.....do they??

That leaves out the headers most definitely then. Votes are still going for the STi mufflers with Xforce front muffler and Y-pipe assembly, which will mean I've gotta fork out $770. That is the most likely path I will go down but am open to any constructive criticism to help me choose otherwise.
Thanks for all the support so far.

Na honestly Gary get the xforce center and Y pipe and join that to a nice set of mufflers wouldn't waste my money on sti quads they're basicly the same mufflers you've got with the twin tips . Unless you want the sti badge over sound.
But when you decide drop round and we can fit them up

Bloke down the end of my street has a 3.0RB with no rear mufflers just straight pipe with tips welded on.Was pretty cheap and sounds quite good too.
Just another option if you were looking for more sound.

Thanks Chris and cliffo3rb. I want the look and sound, which is why I am leaning more towards the STi mufflers and Xforce assembly.

Aren't the STI mufflers just as quiet as your current mufflers? Spending $770 on something that sounds virtually the same just with 4 tips seems silly to me.

The piping on my right muffler has been bent from it hitting a rock or that concrete thing you see in car parks preventing you from hitting a wall or other cars parked in front or behind you. No idea how it could be fixed. I've tried to no avail. It is the reason why my right muffler looks really sagged in the pics on my build thread.
They mufflers may be the same/similar, but the Xforce assembly is what will give me the sound.

Wont the mufflers muffle any sound though??

Of course. It's what they are designed for.
Bigger pipes Net a small change in volume but still very sedate.

Gaz.. The STI mufflers ain't that loud mate. I think you'll be disappointed with them if you go down that path.
Another cheaper option is to get a couple of custom made mild steel sports mufflers made up. Ask for oval offset glass packed sports mufflers... Should set you back no less than $500.
Unbolt your OEM mufflers, chuck 'em in the garage and use your new set until you get sick of the noise!
