Ive got a h6 3.0 01 converted into a manual tranny with xforce adjustable varex 2.5 all the way trough and im pretty disapointed with the noise to be honest.

Im not that educated on exhausts but i know the previous owner did some fuel mapping ecu work, did the extractors, headers and tuned it..
With it completely open (turned all the way up) youll wake up the whole neighbour hood at 1500rpm and it drones on the highway.

I prefer it closed but you get a tinny sounding sting at 3500rpm that doesnt sound too great. im packing it in and selling the varex and returning to either complete stock muffler or sti muffler...

Its sick to have the adjustable varex and you really can have it screaming or silent. but either sound isnt working for my beast..

Anyone with a solution to the tinny sting at 3500rpm would be radical!

Wth it closed

Yep, that's the one. That would have been when I was working with carsales.com.au and their head office was in Atherton Road.

No worries man. Nice to put a name to your user. Now it's just a matter of putting a face there.

bandosharper, I am not going for LOUD noise and won't be getting the Varex mufflers at all. I just want a bit more of a rumble than stock. I don't want people to be hearing me coming from two suburbs away. I personally think that it's too much, unless you're an absolute weapon of a car. Thanks for sharing your experiences, much appreciated.

Judging by the poll, it seems like more people are leaning towards the $720 option; STi mufflers ($500) with Xforce front muffler and Y-pipe assembly ($220).

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

im not an expert but if u want to get the WRX note(rumble) u have to fit headers (extractors) not just a rear muffler!just saying my opinion!

H6's don't rumble. They scream.

Get the normal xforce system. If it's to loud, Which i doubt it will be, Get the STI mufflers later.

I miss mine. With a opened up intake and full exhaust, Merging on the freeway was music to the ears.

Good engines!

The sound of a H6 would leave you unaware of the impending arrival of a moron.

From what has been said already in this thread your looking to spend as little as possible... correct?

i have an h6 (BH model) with all stock piping and a varex fitted, looks good, sounds good, not loud at all, no drone at 110km, and no n/a "squeel", sounds wicked over 3000rpm and that an auto

If you want sound over performance get 2 mufflers and get them fitted to the factory piping so when you get sick of it in 6 months then you just put your factory mufflers back on
