I have the older version on the WD TV and it awesome. Laura's brother just got that new one in the link. The feature I like the most is it can download movie cover art and movie descriptions, same deal with TV shows.

Thanks man...

I haz a smart TV, so I can download torrents onto hard drive and plug that into the TV, and Mrs can just play from that... I'll just have to teach her... lol

That's where the fun begins. Some tv's only support NTFS or Fat32, some do both. Then they won't read more then a certain amount of gigs/terabytes. Yada yada yada.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Exactly! Those media players play all sorts of file formats and hard drives. Just plug in and play.

Yeah thats true...

I have an 8gb USB in there now with Season 4 of Breaking Bad, and the new Evil Dead movie, and it played both, so pretty happy with that.. maybe I'll get a smaller HDD, like 250gb or less, pack on some stuff in there, and see how it goes... I could just use the USB anyway for Megan's shows, whatever they are

Just sucks that some of the shows I can't seen to get on torrents... where go you guys go? I use Kickass.to

I download them onto my PC, and use PS3 media server application on my PC, and my TV picks up and I can stream like that through WiFi. No external media drive needed
Kickass or Pirate bay are my picks

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! I pay $0 for xbmc, and it does what Harry's does.

Bit of manual setting up though.

I haz no PC and no PS3...

Was going to go to HTPC route, but thinking it wouldn't be worth it...

I could stream to xbox media center thing, but nah... I think I'll just USB it and play it on the TV, until the TV is able to play something that is...

So any suggestions for torrent sites?

I'm just downloading the current version of xbmc. Haven't used that in about 10 years. Also noticed they do a raspberry pi version. Very cool

Just had a go of xmbc. Wow did that program get 1000% better. I won't replace my WD TV with it but as far as a pc program goes it pretty decent.

You don't need a PS3 for the PS3 Media Server. Just a PC.

And also, how do you not have a PC?

Are you amish?

I use xbmcbuntu. Once set up. It's pretty good.

Lots of forking around though.

Had it a few years, even then it's improved dramatically as far as networking shares and add ones are concerned.
