This.

Set up an automotic deduction of $400 at least per month the day after pay. Put It in a non linked account (like u bank) then you have to live within your means.

If you can't afford $400 a month, you shouldn't buy a hoos.

I was doing $200 a week.

This. We are currently saving $700 a week by doing this. We are living like hobos but its all for a good cause.

still.. youre still in your 20's right?  having a house paid off in your 20's is forking epic.  as much shit as some put on you for being a tight ass, you'll be in a winning situation and able to spend on all the thing s you dont now, soon enough.  living mortgage free would be such a relief on everything i reckon.  I know Id be infinitely happier.  Simply because Vicky wouldnt have to work, and we could live on my meagre brewers salary.

Adam, once I pay off my CC I worked out that if I live within my means, this still includes a good $400 a month food, all bills and rent, alcohol and petrol and a few bits and peaces here and there, I should be able to save about $1500 a month fairly easily.

My only problem is the land price has plummetted so my value therein isn't that great to borrow against.

Hopefully it will swing up.

I'm paying around 227/pweek

you really needed to have built years ago man.

Mum suggested that if I was going to build back up home that I should buy a block of land and get my uncle (who has a building business) to build the house as he would do it at a discounted rate :D

Josh - if you dont pay your credit card off each month, id suggest cutting the fucker up once its cleared.  We purchase pretty much every thing on our credit card, then pay it off each month.  we collect the frequent flyer points, and the money stays in our mortgage account with interest calculated daily.  Therefore we pay less interest and can bash the principal down quicker.

Brett, I will be closing it for sure! I just got lazy with it, and now I have the Visa Debit so I can use it like a CC but with money I actually have. So yes, that is very much the plan...

I have about $4500 on it to pay off :S but shouldn't take long to smash that down! Couple of months should see it cleared, especially now I am getting another small pay increase.
