Hey all..

As allot of you would know ive been having problems with diff noise since day dot of the conversion being completed. But I thaught id put up a fresh post for anyone not reading my 600 page long build thread.

What im talking aobut here is a 2000 liberty RX with a 2003 STI RA Ej207 and matching 6 speed.

This box only had the manual DCCD control unit and was pretty much locked in manual mode all the time using that. Which caused binding at low speed turns in car parks etc.

This could be overcome turning the manual switch to its lowest setting but it still clicked around corners.

Last week I had a DCCD Pro unit fitted to the car which seems to work very well.. You can now switch it to Auto mode which constantly turns the diff tourqe up and down as your driving. I beleve the system is sending the correct signals to the diff and the DCCD is operating correctly. As its noticably different in all its settings.

Now the problem.

Im still getting a clinking clunking noise when turning left at slow speed. Even with the DCCD Pro turned into off mode, auto with min or max settings anything. When the car is turning left down a hill it is silent but as soon as i get any load on the car it clinks.

Turning right it seems fine.

Any ideas ?

That had come to mind as my mechanic mentioned his Evo had a cusco that made similar noises.

i just need piece of mind that it isnt forked. As it cant stand spending all this money and having it not perfect.

I looked up a bunch of LSD noises and they sound very similar, just odd that its only when turning left

I have the same issue with my (stock) MY06 sti with dccd, I haven't watched the video you linked to but it reads like it will sound the same as the issue i'm having.

Turning off the front wheels seems to help quite a bit and the car is otherwise fine.

Ideas?

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

As I was reading through this I was thinking exactly what Cam just said, sounds suspiciously like a worn CV.

CVs will just click but a diff will be a more aggressive binding and will make the car lurch.

Also does the sound change when the gearbox oil is cold or hot?

Will a CV still clink where there is no power going thru it ?

I thought you could roll into a corner in neutral and turn sharp and still get clinks with a CV problem ?

fork id love it to be simple CV problem.

if possible you could swap cv's from one side to the other if the noise changes to the other side there's your problem

wont work if you have different length drive shafts

I'm surprised that you haven't burnt this car down to a crisp by now, or sold it.That's some dedication right there!
