Ive invested way to much money. its worth nothing to anyone else.

I just need some good advise and a decent plan to finish this project 100%

Id consider it 95% done now. On the open road its a blast atm.. It just sucks in trafic and around the streets.

Other words is there a difference between say 5 speed B4 front drive shafts and 6 speed STI wrx ones ?

Im assuming with a 6 speed swap im still meant to use B4 ones.

If the shafts are too short that will explain your noise. It's pulling on the joint too much.

I just spoke to a mob called lucas automotive who is meant to be a subaru gearbox specialist in my area and he pretty much just told me him and his buisness wanted nothing to do with my car after hearing my story..

Wow..

I had to use B4 hubs as the STI ones where RA spec and had no ABS...

Man i wish when i was starting this someone said " make sure you dont get a RA model and also forget DCCD and AVC as it will cause you nothing but trouble if it fucks up.

The other way to do this is take the wheel side CV off and get the STi shaft and inner CV and mate the two together. That way you run the R160 hub, but the 180 shaft and inner CV to mate to the gearbox properly?

Or is this not able to be done? I have no idea here, I've never seen the STi shafts, so dont know for sure if they are compatible.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

pull the shafts out and take them, to a drive shaft place to be inspected.

Aint nothing wrong with DCCD and AVCS....they are the best parts about the new sti engines....never had any issue with mine...but i had a pretty reputable mechanic do my insatll and my tuner knows his shit

I'm using the standard 5spd manual shafts in my 6spd. They fit perfect.

I had the idea of using sti or auto shafts as they were thicker, They were also way to short. No go.

As others have said, I would be pulling the shafts and have them inspected at a specialist.

Anybody could tell you they are healthy shafts when you first purchased them :(

But STI's had more track so wouldn't the shafts be longer? when i put STI control arms in my car it stretched the cv shafts out a little bit...

The six speeds are crazy tough as is...dont see how youd want it any tougher?

If anything itd be a diff, shaft or cv issue....dont jump straight in to rebuilding the box
