but why? I dont see how something that is assigned a value can then be refused as a form of payment.
I think it's pretty obvious why, would you accept $500 in 5c pieces for one of your detailing jobs?

Basically to stop people rocking up and trying to be dicks and paying for like $100 worth of stuff in 5c coins.
It is at the discretion of the person taking the money as to whether or not they will take it... but anything over $5 in 5c coins does not need to be taken.
Imagine a busy store trying to get customers through and you end up with someone being an asshat and handing you $40 in 5c coins and you have to count them out while everyone else in the line needs to wait a lot longer because of it.
not to mention that many coins would be a pain in the arse to store... so it is a law to enforce what most people would already consider stupidity anyway.

It is not deemed legal tender using 5c coins to pay for more than $5.
(1) A tender of payment of money is a legal tender if it is made in coins that are made and issued under this Act and are of current weight:
(a) in the case of coins of the denomination of Five cents, Ten cents, Twenty cents or Fifty cents or coins of 2 or more of those denominations—for payment of an amount not exceeding $5 but for no greater amount;
( in the case of coins of the denomination of One cent or Two cents or coins of both of those denominations—for payment of an amount not exceeding 20 cents but for no greater amount;
© in the case of coins of a denomination greater than Fifty cents but less than Ten dollars—for payment of an amount not exceeding 10 times the face value of a coin of the denomination concerned but for no greater amount;
(d) in the case of coins of the denomination of Ten dollars—for payment of an amount not exceeding $100 but for no greater amount; and
(e) in the case of coins of another denomination—for payment of any amount.
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), a coin shall be deemed to be not of current weight if it has become diminished in weight by wear or otherwise so as to be of less weight than the weight prescribed as the least current weight of that coin.

whats the going price on your kind of liberty Mark?
Youve got to understand that car yards make money by buying cars for less than they sell them for. By the time its gone through their workshop, been detailed, any body work repairs, parts replaced, had the change of ownership stuff done etc etc, theyve spent more than just what they pay you for the car in the first place. Sometimes you'll get a better trade in price, IF the car you are looking to buy off them has more profit in it. So they lose on the buy, but they make it up on the sale.

ive got mine priced at 13500 and im at the low end of the market, mainly people and dealers are asking between 14 and 16
i understand the preface of how they make their money and all that, but to me 7 grand is still a slap in the face offer for my car considering how much i know they would put it on the lot for.

Considered de-modifying it? Most people go for stock cars.

Probably was different when you were growing up in Britain.

ive considered it, but frankly i dont have the time to do it morgs, this is the only weekend ive got off between now and mid december cause of Uni and state team, and even this weekend ive got a fair bit on. i dont have alot of the parts either, the old suspension is shot which is why i put the coilovers in, the car came with the exhaust so i dont have the stock one. id rather just sell it as is.
Posted 12 October 2013 - 10:58 AM
Speaking about suspension, I'm gonna clean my previous Billies so I can put them up for sale.
