A shifter is pretty unimportant when you have the right size spanners. They can be pretty dangerous in beginners hands :P

I don't care if you think I'm a raging homo. Ratchet ring spanners are one of the best tools I own.

I'm with Morgs on this one. So helpful at getting the job done faster and easier.

Yeah shifter is always the last option when no spanner will fit :P

Adamantium, ball end hex keys. So good.

Lol! Thanks mate. :)

Then, taking Jase's advice, I can buy a kincrome ratchet separately, smaller than the 1/2 one in the kit...

Tools

Sockets/spanners:

Screw drivers:

Pliers:

Hex keys:

you'd want a ½" drive socket set for doing suspension stuff.

You don't need many or expensive tools to work on cars. look after them and they will look after you.

@Josh, at a guess I would pick Kingchrome as I have never used Cresent. As with most things, you quite often get what you pay for.

@Morgs, If you like them then great. :) Personally I dont like them as for me they have less feel and with moving parts, they wear out. Plus I can operate a normal ring spanner at about the same speed as a ratchet one. ;)

Repco spanners? Must be half OK as a few mates who are still on the trade use them. If they are the ones I am thinking of, they look like Snap On.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Thanks Jase.. :)

I think I'm leaning towards the Kincrome ones... there isn't a diff between Kingchrome and kincrome is there? Are they 2 different brands?

@Marky The Repco ones look good, seem to have good reviews, but more exxy... but yeah, get what you pay for... but apparently their warranty is a lot better, pretty much replaced on the spot...

You're right ratchets don't have an idetical feel to a solid ring spanner. Wouldn't expect it to though. It's got it's own moving parts.

They make my life so much easier though. Especially in Subaru engine bays. Barely enough room for my pinky!

Appreciate all the help :)
