Not to sound rude, but you have no idea how bad it is out here. My genset has kicked in, which is cool, but that means I have to go and fill it with diesel so it doesn't run out in the night. Also, my cooling systems are on mains, so now I get the wonderful task of moving our mashes into a different room, which, not to whinge, but 70kg's doesn't get lighter as the light gets dimmer.

@Brettles: Starts on the 13th bro!

:) We have a team in!

Been having a fair bit of sex recently which is OK. But doesn't really hit the spot.

I ran into Tall Paul at gourmet escape. He was chomping at the bit to get back into it.

Sig worthy.

Nigh nigh Brettles (just thought I saw him in a silver gV yesterday is all)

@mark: Apparently it's 300MW, and is 143km from me.

Hams, piss easy to get into the RFS. A mate of ours has been in it for 10 years and helped get the ball rolling. We filled out the application and just waited until we got the all clear.

Because of the recent blue mountain/lake munmorah fires, there was a years worth of applications received in two weeks!!! Took a little longer for ours to get processed as you can imagine!

Then, we did a 2 part safety orientation. Half online and half at the station. Also piss easy. It's pretty impossible to fail.

You have to attend training at least once a month to stay an active member. Training is held once a week. I also have another commitment on Wednesdays so I'm simply alternating weeks.

You get a uniform. Maaad.

Then there is a 2 day BF (bush fire) course + assessment you need to complete. Mine is in a few weeks and once that is done, I receive my pager and I can officially fight fires.

Also, you need a MR truck license to drive the truck. The RFS fund this for you and any leader type person from your station can be the qualifies driver that takes you out. Pretty sweet deal considering it costs roughly $2k to get it privately!

So, what is the ratio of chocolate to cream centres?

I'm a volunteer by default, but I put myself down as a drinker so they don't call me. Which sometimes I feel a bit of a dick about, but then it's like, is it worse to not be there, or to rock up smashed and grab everyone's hose?

SAFE.

Meh. I was only guessing.

In my head I always think Fire Brigade. But that's backwards.
