Here's an update on behalf of MOOBS.

A scanner was reading a code for the TPS (Throttle position sensor) and this code was cleared and hasn't returned yet.

Two thirds of the Vac lines have been replaced with blue 3mm ID silicone vac lines.

The Blow off valve vac lines were plumbed for the standard BOV and have now been set up for the aftermarket GFB T9000 BOV.

Also a restrictor pill was missing in the original BOV plumbing.

Several leaks were found from hose clamps on intake & turbo pipes .

The wastegate control solenoid was gummed up and has been cleaned.

The MAF sensor was filthy and has been cleaned.

The air filter box top wasn't sealed flush and had a half inch gap. Drawing in unfiltered air.

The main loss of power was from the leaking BOV.

90% of the fins in the intercooler are pressed flat and will be straightened.

The remaining vac lines will be replaced, including inside the BBOD.

BBOD solenoids will be cleaned.

The car now pulls heaps heaps harder and sounds crisp ;) .

There is a humming or chatter at changeover in the VOD that Moobs notices.  I couldn't hear it because I don't hear properly and I was stoned.

It may be the noise of the SPV???

Or possibly ECV flap rattle???

I couldn't diagnose it but it's pissing him off so he'll keep on working on that.

Now we just wait for Moobs to report back about his drive home.

Good to see a result.

Be careful with the rattle, it may not be the ECV rattle. could be pinging and we all know what that leads to on a B4...
Dak Dak BOOM!

It's going to run pretty good once the intercooler is actually doing it's job. It might be making it ping???  It's very blocked and is getting so hot.

I was generous saying it was 90% blocked.

More like 98%.

Once it's all sorted out with clean solenoids & lines it should be pretty reliable too. The car has only travelled 125K and everything else appears to be in good order.

Very glad we got some results.

Since this all started, Moobs has learn't a shit load about his car in such a short time, saved a large whack of cash by giving it a go himself and now is thinking of improvement mods.  Not fixes.

That's the best thing.

Moobs, I'd jump on that larger intercooler if I were you. It's cheaps as fork bro!

Good to see some results!! Good work Josh.

My suspected ECV rattle was in fact a big end bearing rattle. #expensivenoises

B4's ping at the best of times on 98RON with a well flowing intercooler.
Getting ECU mods is imperative to keep the thing running

They're a 9.5:1 Hi comp motor running a dogsh!t tune

I'm posting this here because it seems logical.

I miss our little TT chats.

I did the ECV mod to my car yesterday. The transition is so much smoother now & VOD has reduced drastically. VOD from 4200rpm - 4500rpm and only losing 6 psi which is a marked improvement to how it was.

I'm not sure if this is totally from the mod alone or from proper ECV adjustment. I have been mucking around with the ECV for some time. I'll take the car for a good spin this arvo to see how it all goes then change back to the standard solenoid plumbing to compare performance.

And Moobs,  give us an update mate.
