But you have to understand why many gay people lie about their sexuality. Give them a culture where they feel safe to admit they're gay and then they wouldn't feel the need to lie.

I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would be like to come out.

Yeah. While there are bigger issues in the world right now, it pisses me off that there are still so many homophobes. I knew a guy at school, he was teased. Everyone knew he was gay. From pics I've seen on facey, he's got a partner now, life goes on. I have a lesbian friend from uni also, who is practically married.

What is weird, is when people start asking questions because you're 25 and have never had a partner :P

I can't hurt animals either. I have a turtle I need to find a new home for. I could be a prick and just release it and mark it deceased (highly illegal). But I feel bad for him. I have two, and they're fighting now, too big for my tank to be together.

I'd love to have pet turtles, but Brisbane is too long of a trip for 'em. Are they small?

Wha da, is it pizza night tonight!?

Nope. I just smashed two fillets of salmon. Nom nom nom!

I shot a Roo once. Seriously haunts me to this day. I get chills thinking about it.

I'd rather help an animal than hurt it.

Killing animals for food doesn't phase me. But I'm seriously against animal cruelty.

No. They're bigger than my hand now. He needs a pond or a big tank like mine just to himself. I am keeping one of them, he'll be fine for years in my tank alone.

haha. I keep one in a tub at the moment (swap them over every few days) one managed to get out just because I left a towel on the edge of it. They're fast and strong buggers. Found him in the hallway when I went to bed one night.

Ah ok. I've always wanted to have one for some reason. Are they hard to maintain? Expensive?

They are easy enough no harder than a successful aquarium. But do require some unique care and setup. There is a good forum with a caresheet for the aussie ones. Most expensive regular item is the UVB bulbs, can be up to $80 a bulb every six months. Only get one, and a big tank, at least 5x2x2.

Interesting. May be when I get my own house I'll look into it further. I'm happy with my cichlid aquarium at the moment and it's pretty easy to maintain, although I do think I've gotta buy a heater... I'll be changing the scape in my aquarium pretty soon though. I'm getting over the look of it and it's not allowing the entire thing to be efficient if you know what I mean.

You cannot shove turtles up cow's anuses, Bumpty... They cannot breath methane and do not eat the remains of grass and cow feed.

I dunno. It would be an effort. I moved to NSW with them once, and back again. There is paperwork and shit when you cross borders. :P

I'm sure someone will pick him up. I kind of want him to go to someone with a pond. Because I know how big he's going to get. Grows fast when given a good feed for extended periods.

Are they like fish with regards to growing according to their tank size and space, etc? Or they just keep getting bigger and bigger with age?

I'm off to a mates place to chill. Speak to you all whenever I get a chance to via phone.

Bigger with age, growth rate varies on diet but its generally pretty gradual if you're doing it right. Murray River gets to around 35cm shell length. Krefft (one I am keeping) gets to about 25cm shell length, mines about 21cm.

The only relatively easy to keep small species is the Macleay, max size of about 20cm in captivity.
