Maintenance update and photo dump!

Some pretty snaps from Zahmad and Matt.

And now for the maintenance part...ewww :P

While driving home earlier in the week, My engine got really noisy. It just sounded like a bearing so I ignored it until I got home and would check out/diagnose the damage.
I got home and was about to shut the car off when I heard a: THWACK!...Sounded like a belt throwing itself off.

Yep, Threw itself off and that usually only happens when something has A. leaked onto the belt and made things slippery, B. the tensioner has failed or C. A pulley has failed.

Lucky for me, Option C was the case.

TcRmYTj.jpg

The tensioner pulley bearing had started to fail/bind up when hot and to be honest it's probably been failing for a while (These engines are very whiney to begin with)
While the belt was off, I assessed the other idler bearing, alternator bearing, power steering pump condition and AC compressor condition. Everything else was healthy :)

I replaced the belt when the engine was out of the car originally. So that didn't need doing.

EZ30's use idler pulleys that are a straight swap from a commodore part number. The new pulleys are slightly smaller but the auto-tensioner can take up the difference.

You can either service the current pulleys by pressing out the bearings and pressing in new ones. I couldn't get a replacement bearing until next week so I opted for replacement pulleys (They come with new bearings already installed). Probably not a bad idea considering my old pulleys looked crusty.

I replaced both even though the idler pulley felt good. I'll use that as a spare if myself or a forum member is in trouble in future. Best to replace the lot and sleep easy at night.

OeaiPyM.jpg

Pulley part number: Dayco 89007
Bearing part number: 6203

Back together, Engine is quiet and silky smooth again. I would advise that any EZ owner inspect the condition of your pulleys next service, If these things let go at the wrong time it could be a expensive tow truck home vs the cost of two new pulleys: $40

Ciao until next time xoxo

Hmmm tough decisions.

Might have to flip a coin on this one.

Sliverlights Vs Enkies

Those Rays are ok but, a bit Generic looking though.

CE28N's are done to death and boring imo and I dont think the super thin spokes of the RAYS suit the Gen3.

I wouldnt change the Enkei's for either as I think they suit the car better. My 2c.

Gramlights would be my pick

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?
