It sucks! That should be awesome. 30R's are amazeballs and love E85.

I'm currently uploading two videos of what I've been up to for the last couple of weeks ;)

For the car to pass engineering, I needed a quiet muffler. (This has been a really slow process, I'm on the back burner. Long story short he is a busy man and I'm a low priority customer)

I love the idea of varex systems. I hate the cost, look and sound of varex systems.
I could have sourced a GX liberty muffler, Adapted it to the 2.5" centre section and been done with it. Boring!

I had a thought. TT vehicles (Gen2/Gen3) have a muffler that has two inlets and a valve that opens at higher revs/speeds to keep the gas flowing. It's controlled by the ecu and usually fails/owners upgrade and throw the muffler away.

Why couldn't I find some kind of actuator/cable to operate a B4 muffler? I could have the best of both worlds.

So...
A B4 muffler was sourced.
Modified to suit the wagon (Length/Tip)
Inlet modified to suit my current 2.5" catback system.
A cheap chinese cable/actuator was sourced
Some vht high temp black paint was sourced
and I had a switch laying around for some reason :P

All was fitted/modified by me. I'm yet to decided on permanent location for the motor/switch. It's all loose and yet to be tidied up. (I'll post pics of it when I do)

With the valve closed - It's silent at idle/light throttle/freeway speeds. Has a very slight bark when you are up it. (The video makes it seem loud, It's not. Heaps of that is exhaust rushing out of the tri-flow section of the muffler/intake noise)

With the valve open - It's not as loud as my legamax muffler. It's very quiet on light throttle and has a great bark when you are loading the car up higher in the rev range. Not at all obnoxious or droney.

Very happy. I need to tidy up the wiring and may go for a different tip (GD STI) :)

I'm doing a solid road trip over the next week in the car. Keen for silence (The missus will love it) :P

Hey man,

This is awesome...love it. I know morgs put his switch for the cup holder light illumination mod in his centre console...could be an idea. Great work man :)

Switch is getting put inside my ash tray :)

I'll try and talk the missus into a port detour on the way home from Byron.

Nice bit of engineering there Cam.

I like how you thought your way out of a problem, not buy your way out.

Little pointless update!

I just got home from my first proper road trip up/down/around the east coast of NSW and back in the 30. 2200ish km's in 3.5 days :)
The car slept myself and the missus well, The quiet muffler was bliss, I set the coilovers to soft and enjoyed the ride. I averaged 8L/100km's the entire trip and it didn't miss a beat/use a drop of anything. Stoked!!!

I even got to have some fun on the grass (I'll sort out the gopro footage later) :P

Oh and some bits arrived: A genuine tyre placard from a late model sti (To suit my enkeis/engineering certificate) And a Aeroklas cargo mat. It's super grippy! My dog's wont fall over and my boot gets protected from sand/water/greasy things :D

+1. I wouldn't mind getting all of my placards and stickers replaced with new genuine ones. How did you go about finding the part numbers for them?

Wanting to buy/looking for: single genuine STi rim, genuine STi front lip, Corazon or Zero/Sports grille and another OEM grille

Can you hook a brother up? Please contact me now. I have cash ready.

Worked out that MY11+ WRX/STI's had what I needed, Rang my local Subaru parts interpreter and asked him to nicely find a part number and order it for me.

I can now sleep better at night knowing that the placard is correct :P

8l/100kms is pretty good Cam.

Mine gulped it way through nearly 9L/100 on the way to Sydney, and it has one extra gear.

Props on the tyre placard. I did the same with my Commo wagon, a placard off an SS. :)
