Gents,

I'm with the NRMA for my CTP and this year it's through the roof. For 12 months my premium is $767.52 ( I'm 27 )! I was just on the blower with them because apparently according to them ( on the CTP form ) i have had an at fault incident ... haven't had one in 10 years, let alone EVER. Due to this apparently it has affected my premium. So i got them to fix it, no change to premium. The dude told me, because my car is a 1999 year model, it attracts a higher CTP value.

I did a few quotes, one with AAMI which came up $392 for 6 months and GIO which was the same pretty much to the dollar.

Anyone out there getting a better deal?

Mine is $579 for my RS (I'm 22) through NRMA. Yours does sound abnormally high.

For 12 months?

What a joke... dude tells me what i have is the lowest possible he can do. If i could get on the fkn NRMA website i would get another quote.

I pay about there on my B4 postcode 2176.

I'm 31 but it seems to go up every year. I have the highest no claims bonus as well

Jimbo, I suggest you use this site to look around and see what each insurer has to offer. I

http://prices.maa.nsw.gov.au/

nsurance (mainly CTP) keeps going up every year as more and more people have accidents. It depends on your area a lot too....

Basically costs a grand to register a car on the road for a year these days....

I get the same results each time. I know that when you turn 27 though, it goes down by about $200. But in my case, never had an accident and that counts for nothing with an insurance company i have used for nearly as long as i have been driving. No customer loyalty at all these days as soon as it comes to insurance of any kind.

Maybe i should switch to Shannons again. Aek, do they make an exception for daily drives? I remember i had my Gen2 GT-B insured with them and daily driven.

Sorry for the silly questions, but how does this work? The government pays our CTP insurance as part of the rego in SA, so I've never heard of going through individual companies for it. Just curious how the system works.

Cheers,

Ben

Forester is registered as a daily driver, Liberty is registered for limited use. No difference I don't think.

I think the NSW gov sold off our CTP many years ago?

Or basically..

We pay all these companies many bags of money, get ripped off later on and then, maybe then, we're allowed to drive our cars on the road. As long as we paid lots of money..

For 12 months ( I'm 27, 1999 Legacy GTB, living in 2148 ) it costs me $484 in rego, then $767.52 for CTP then it costs me about $1400 to insure it comprehensively. Im buying a pushy...

Holy crap... I pay about 480 on rego that includes CTP a year. You fellas need to move to SA.

I reckon it might have something to do with the fact the GT-B is a personal import. Obviously it would have no ANCAP rating so i guess i pay more. I also probably pay an extra vehicle tax at rego for an import. Should convert it all into an AUDM shell!

Let me dig up some of the old rego papers from my legacy. I don't think it was any more than the liberty was..

Weird as i have never payed this much. XR5 was like $300 cheaper ( must be the new car vs old car surcharge ). The old GT-B was never that much either, but then again, that wasn't an import..

Jimbo, XR5 far newer car with six airbags? Whole lot can change in a decade in car safety. $300 cheaper is to be expected then...

Also its based on how often your vehicle/vehicle type has been involved in accidents.

I give you an example. When was looking into purchasing my first car, I decided to look up insurance numbers as well.

An S13 Nissan Silvia was WAY cheaper to insure than a Nissan Pulsar SSS which give or take had the same engine/power.

A sports car/coupe was cheaper to insure than your warm hatchback due to all the lebanese hektic-ullah P-platers crashing their Pulsars....
