What are you arseholes up to?

Drove the Subaru Impreza R hatchback today, I honestly could not believe how basic it is. Seriously. Knobs for the air con? Really Subaru? Really? No usb/ipod dock, terrible cloth seats, my lord, it is SO damn slow. I knew it would be slower than the OBK, but holy crap, you may as well catch public transport, and we don't even have that down here.

So there's an RS I hear? Cool. Has a bit more purpose to its looks, must be about a three maybe four grand option?

Let's ask about it...

...add nine grand to the R price to get bigger wheels, a body kit, and an interior that wouldn't look out of place if it rocked a tape deck.

That's cool. It must be MUCH faster than the R?

Let's ask about it...

...exactly the same power and delivery. Fork me. You want me to crack nearly $34K on this? I could see in his eyes even he felt like a douche trying to sell it.

Wander across the street. Hi Holden. I don't like you very much, but my girl is a Holden family product, I would like very much if this car is completely crap so I can giggle and squirt at the next family function. Took the petrol for a test drive, haha, and you thought an Impreza was slow? I asked the salesmen if he'd fed the hamster that was running the car in the past week or not. He was pretty cool with it though.

Built in Korea? "Yes."
Is this a dressed up Kia Cerato? "Not really."
Is this the slowest thing on the road? "Possibly"

Turn around, let's go back to the stealership. This isn't going well. Oh, a diesel? Yeah right. Why in gods name would I want my missus driving a courier vehicle?

Completely converted me. The diesel has some balls man, cruises at speed, overtaking isn't a pee your pants experience. Heated leather seats (awesome in summer to fry peoples arses) electric seats, ipod connect rah rah rah. Thing is a beast of extras.

Anyway.

What did y'all do today?

I think I pretty much told you all of this already :P haha

Your findings are interesting Nik.

Mum wants to buy a new car in 2011, and those two are on her shortlist.

But like Shiv, I like second hand cars, and I'm hoping to get her behind the wheel of a Gen IV 3.0R (maybe even a Bilstein)

Most sensible thing someone has said in this thread... looking at depreciation of cars every working day I kind of am scared of new cars

I do recall you telling me and Tom how much you paid for your B4  Scary to think of depreciation...scary to think how much beer that depreciation money could've bought you!

Yeah I paid a good $23.5k for my B4, but that was probably 4-5 years ago now.

Reckon i've spent at least another $4-5k on it since.

Ugh i could ramble on for forking days about this stuff.

Anyone savvy with aftermarket sumps for the EJ motors?

Or are you cats still playing with standard motors?

Morning all.

Big day yesterday.

Lowered the Lib, fixed the bullsiht loud exhaust (still a little loud for me) and gave it a wheel align.

We'll see how it goes with -1.5 camber.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Imagine a silver GenIII with bugeye rims sitting 35mm lower than stock.

Working for you now Tom?

I will take pics when:

I could be bothered
The car is clean
The wife hasn't taken it
I could be bothered
The sun is out
I'm not working
The kids are sorted

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

I want to prevent oil surge at the track.

I want the new motor to be bulletproof, so I'm taking measures now to prevent this.

So far, the list of options are:

Moroso

Killer B

Hyperflow

Notes on research so far:

Hyperflow is made in Wollongong (close-ish). Australian made product, but requires extra oil (1L)
Killer B looks like a good bit of kit. But its in the States, requires extra oil (1.2L)
Moroso is over $1k, but holds standard capacity for oil (4.7L) (which I like the idea of)
