I know from experience dealing with other car clubs, permission was needed to use the name and logo.
From memory it was a fairly painless process, just a case of asking and stating the use.

Might pay to remove the logo while you are going through the process, it shows bad form considering we are already using it.

The logo Subyclub uses should be fine? I was under the impression, so that as long as the image was docvtored by at least a 10% different to the original, it was allowed to be used, regardless.

Ty was guessing from his knowledge base though, one could argue that you've searched the internet for your answer.

One could also argue that there is a possibility that people were distributing the Subaru before 1973, prior to Subaru Australia as a brand being solidified. This could explain earlier examples of the marque being present in Australia. My '78 was brought in by SoAUS - but being five years latter to the aforementioned importation date, not worth mentioning.
