Hookers are cheap mate.

@iain

What conversion has your mate Mouse (no idea of his real name, gen 1 rs) done?

Mouse has an Australian-delivered RS. His car is not a conversion.

Iain, wow even the cheap option sounds like a lot of cash.. for the small price difference between it and the V3/4 cut it makes me wonder why anyone would opt to use the 96 option

Exactly. However, V3 and V4 engines do have a propensity to spin big-end bearings and pop headgaskets due to the huge amount of timing the stock ECUs run. Personally, if I was going to convert a car with a V3/V4 motor I'd fit new headgaskets and probably big-end bearings. Or sell the stock V3/V4 short motor and fit a new EJ207 short (using the V3's cam covers, heads, oil pump, etc).

@lain, Holy shit... Should just buy a B4 :P

No, because B4s are probably one of the top 3 worst Subarus ever sold in Australia (the worst is the Vortex). Convert a Gen3 RX or Heritage rather than buying a B4 and fixing the rampant AIDS and engineering shortcuts.

No, because B4s are the top Subaru ever sold in Australia

Exactly :P hahaha... If you don't chase power in them and just iron out the bugs they are a great cruiser.

Great cruiser? They didn't even fit cruise control in them FFS.

I've driven plenty of TT Subarus and I do NOT understand how anyone can actually like them after driving a single turbo one...

That is annoying re. Cruise..... but yeah i do enjoy driving mine and compared to some of the earlier stock single T subarus they are a much better drive. Not going to defend the TT system as it is universally accepted that it is AIDS.. but it is not horrible to live with.

... Ok compared to a newer 2.5T Sti even in stock form it does suck pretty badly :P

Stock Subarus suck dead dog wang in a performance guise. All of them.

Mod them and they're awesome. And by mod, i mean even an intake, exhaust, better boost control and a better intercooler is 99% of the battle.

Good call.

Paint it blue with gold rims and smack an STi badge on it and it gains Kirrawasps?

Not so much hate. Just many lols.

I've been following his threads on OzFoz for a year or so now and his 'mods' are ...interesting.

I'm actually surprised he hasn't put a bonnet scoop on the XV yet...
