Sweet work mark. Looks like it's all running smoothly.

The job we were just about finished just turned to shit.

We put 2 brand new mixers in for masterfoods over Christmas. They are now just in the process of running trails on them but the shafts that the big paddles have seized up.

They have two shafts with paddles with one of the shafts running through the centre of the other so that one can spin clockwise while the other spins anti clockwise. But they haven't put enough clearance between the two shafts and so they have bound together.

Now we have to try and cut them out and replace them without damaging or warping anything. Which is quite difficult considering everything was made as one piece.

I think pictures might explain it better but I have none at the moment.

Hope everything is okay Smash!

Nothing too drastic, just enough to drive someone insane though.

Ah right makes sense, but I've never seen anything like that.

ha far from smooth! the floor above was welded in place so we had to cut it, but needed a hot work permit, and then another permit to use a cutting disk, and that was only for someone who had done the specific Competency To Operate training for using an electric angle grinder. Because having a Trade certificate for mechanical fitting isn't enough?
And it was a rigging nightmare to get each out.

Hahaha HR red tape!

Wish I could get back into a proper mechanical design role. Designing truck bodies is okay. But it's not as good as the big stuff

Looks like fun, Mark!

Helpful tip - instead of buying a brand new WR when you get back, save the cash and buy a house in a year.

Appreciating assets, y0!

Ill throw some pics up tomorrow.

Well 90% of our work is for masterfoods so nothing as big as you are doing but we have all the issues with permits to work and hot work permits. And its even worse because we could be working on a job that a couple of engineers are working on. And they all have their own interpretations of the saftey issues.

A few years ago and yes, they have grown HEAPS!

The are both tall (especially the older one) for their age, but as you know the older they get, the less room you need in a car.

The younger one will come out of the booster later this year, well later than the recommended age, weight, height.

Helpful tip Morgs...life is what happens while you wait for assets to appreciate. Invest in lifestyle for a better life.

Setting up for the future > instant gratification

IMO

1. Buy house while still living at home with parents.
2. Rent house out
3. Buy fun stuff
4. Move into own house.
5. Win at life.

That's what I would have done if I had my time again.

But at 26 paying of a mortgage and 3 kids I'm not doing too bad

Nope, I think it may actually be one of the other pulleys.

Number 1 is done

Number 2 is done

Have done some of number 3 but I'm a patient man and can wait for more...

Number 4 will happen within the next 24 months.

I know this is a dead end and I love you for it Morgan, but you do realise (not taking the piss) that the future will just be a stack of little 'instants'? Are you telling me that you know exactly in which one of those instants you will be happiest is defined by how well 'set up' you are...really???

I'm bemused by that outlook.

yeah I'm gonna buy a second hand WR if i do get one ;)

Plan is to buy a house within the 12 months. I'm only just turned 23 so I've got a fair few miles in me left. and my 'career' is still in its early stages :)

Not sure how i'll go getting approved when i don't have a full time job.

I agree with you pete, but i see so many people in theirs 30's and older that just waste there money on shit. I don't wanna pay someone else mortgage of forever, and i would like to think one day i'll get married and have some kids.
