Didn't see it a HVC. Shame.
This, for me too.
No probs on the thread update stuff, that's what I'm here for.
The new toy & B4 updates are real nice Mark.

Ticked off two well-overdue jobs today, and in a split second I also made a couple of hours work for myself. More on that later.
The boot rubber was split. I bought a perfect condition replacement (for only ten beans!) because I just wanted to tidy things up as best as I can. That was weeks ago. Roll forward to last Wednesday when I discovered the spare wheel well had two inches of water in it! Left side boot underlay/carpet was soaked. The split on the boot rubber was on the left, so I'm hoping that was the culprit. Dried that out and pulled my finger out to swap the rubber.
Removed the old. Cleaned of the black goo (same as you find inside your doors sticking on the clear plastic sheeting) with some wax and grease remover. Not a hard job, just time consuming. Twenty boring minutes later...
I used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive. If in doubt, use more rather than less. I think the ideal amount is a bead about the thickness/diameter of toothpaste, run along the top edge. It flashes dry almost immediately. By the time I'd run a bead around the entire boot, I was good to start fitting the new rubber. Here's the adhesive:
Boom. Fitted. It's another one of those jobs where only you see the work and noone else cares. I am stoked that it's done. Fingers crossed that fixes the water leak.

Here's the boost gauge all wired up. The +ve has three different gauges of wire. Most joins are solder with heatshrink. It was fun to fire up the soldering iron again. I used to make a lot of Jaycar audio/speaker kits back in the day. You can see the fuse tap. These were new to me and I really like them. Non-permanent, no dirty splicing.
Fuse tap link: http://www.ebay.com....tm/271498821521
Here's where I grounded the gauge. This is the driver's footwell, looking towards the centre of the vehicle (note the footwell air vent to help orientate yourself).
Thank you previous owner!
Fuse tap. Pow!
Illuminated boosty goodness. It is pretty bright though... I considered trying to get it wired to the BF cluster, but I have 3 Defi BF gauges to go into a triple dash mount so I think I'll just leave it. Excuse the potato camera.
Job done.

Ok so here's the sucky part. If you look at the first boot rubber pic, it's outside in the driveway (and the finished pic with car inside the garage). Started work and cue the only rain that I saw all day. True story: it begain showering about 30sec after I started applying the adhesive. Did half the boot. It kept raining and now things are getting too wet to keep working. Cut losses, will put car in garage. Garage has stuff everywhere! Adhesive already started to cure. Hurry! Move weights, compressor, rear seats from the 4WD, STI spoiler....*dropped*!

Dropped the lip spoiler on the compressor somehow. Chipped the paint. Sigh. Time to learn how to fix chips! :-)

Ouch, that sucks.
Pretty sure we've all done something like that before though.

Sucks! Thanks fellas, sorry to hear you guys had similar stories. Yep, it does sound like we've all been there. Ask me about my (at the time) 3yr old daughter scratching a flathead screwdriver down the rear quarter panel of my freshly repainted GTR whilst I'm stuck on a trolley underneath and up to my armpits holding exhaust bits. "I'm helping daddy!" Sorry kiddo, you sure weren't.
Just quietly, I was proud of myself for the lack of cursing and rage. More of a "meh, that sucks... i guess it's going back on the list..." lol

Not at kids though......thats not what i was getting at lol
Absolutely! Oh man, I was pretty steamed when my daughter was laying into the car. I'm happy to share that I did the right thing: kept my cool, called my wife and she took our daughter upstairs so I could get it out of my system in private.
And Mark, you nailed it. Raging doesn't get it fixed! And don't let a hiccup spoil your automotive fun. Plenty of dudes have had much worse!

Thanks Cam! Hopefully you didn't notice the bogan driver with his house trackies and hoodie...
I didn't see the Foz :-( Unless you were in the GD wagon?
PS. Chip repair fixed. Back to cutting and planning to fit the lip next free weekend. Been distracted by the bike

Had my front bar resprayed on my Liberty many years ago. Smash repairers have a steepish dip driveway. Came in at the wrong angle and scratched the underside. Nearly reversed straight back to get them to do it again!
We've definitely all done something like it, mate
Everything else is looking good!

I met a good dude today. He drove a really nice SF Forester. He's also bit of a painter and did a great job on an STI bar, bumper, skirts and wing. Meeting him and seeing his work gave me a good kick in the arse to finish my own STI bootlip spoiler.
So off with the generic thing. I used the fishing line trick. It's only 15lb line so it was happy to snap anytime I got too keen. After a few minutes I was here:

I fired up the air buffer and finished cutting the lip spoiler. It worked a treat. Then into the 3 different flavours of polish, lined with 3M tape, and just about done. I got a bit keen with cutting at one point, so need to do a tiny touch up, and then tomorrow I'll whack it on the car. Can't wait.
PS. I'm still looking for an STI BMC and booster if anyone has a lead on someone breaking a GD. Just checking the subyclub network before going retail
