The stupid hippies throwing rocks at rally drivers or placing them under the wheels is just ridiculous. Dont they know they are endangering the drivers lives and possibly others. And all because a car MAY hit a wallaby or koala. What the F*#^ is wrong with them. Surely they have heard how loud these cars are and any animal worth being alive isnt going to be on the road when the car comes around. I used to live where the rally is going past. I know some of the locals who are protesting that drive like bigger idiots than the rally drivers. The locals kill more wildlife than the rally will. They are also worried about copy cat drivers. People are going to drive like idiots if they want whether there is a rally or not. The protesters need to grow up!! Cheers Jesse

Today i found out some karnt has tried to break into my god damn car while i was at work.. decided the pug and beamer parked either side of me was not what they wanted.. they didnt get in but rather they just mcfugged the lock so the key hole is now a gaping mess.. to top it off my gay IR central locking remote key stopped working so when i got home i pulled it apart and changed battery.. 2 hours later after cleaning every god damn tiny solder joint and cleaning every part of the farking thing 3 times i realise the battery goes in the opposite way to every single watch and key i have ever worked on... this all accompanied with the fact i spent the whole day at work labeling envelopes and packaging cables into them for all 400+ stores and almost getting hit in the side of the work car by the IT boss when he was speeding up the back street (at which time i floored it to evade him and ripped a massive burnout infront of the fleet boss) means today was a serious FML day. oh and when buying the $3.50 battery for the key i maxed my credit card out... juuuuuust BEAUTIFULL! :dash2:

RANT ON: Stupid Holden (Opel) Astras. Mum has an '03 Astra. I broke a window reg two years ago at my sister's wedding. I was very drunked. I was leaning out the on window and mum tried to shut it. ~*SNAP*~ $400 later, and its fixed. Farking Holden Service. Fast forward two years to about a week ago. Mum winds down the rear passenger side window (ie the other one) ~*SNAP*~ GRRRRRRR.

Hey Alex, I know what you mean with Astras...... Don't forget the timing belt fails before 100,000kms and bends all the valves!

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Yeah, its retarded.

60k service, and got slugged with a $2.5K bill, which included (suprise!!) major service and timing belt change.

i wasn't quite prepared for it...bit of a rude shock!

They had a fault when the service interval was 100,00k and heaps of them dropped the belt an buggered the motarz. Cost GMH a packet (not to mention the customers) so they revised the belt replacement to 60,000k.
Now they have fixed the issue, the interval is back to 100,000k.

$2.5k for a (dealer?) service....jeeeesus. I recon that's not far off getting a fugged one fixed at your local workshop.
Didn't they call you with a quote and authorisation before going ahead???? :dash2:

It was actually with lube mobile. We got sick of Holden Service!

There were a few other things wrong with it, and we decided to fix everything.

Last night I found a window reg on ebay. $75 to my door. Better than $200+ from Holden. Brand new. Non OEM but who cares!

I have a friend with a Holden Vectra. She had it for 4 weeks because it was due for a service and when she took it in for it's minor service they were telling her how the clutch was stuffed. She then said ok to getting it fixed, They basically quoted her an arm and a leg. They had to order parts from Opel in "Germany" I told her to get it fixed not using OEM parts and sell it, It worked out heaps cheaper for her. Wouldn't happen if she owned a Subaru, It would be head gaskets instead :P

Non OEM but who cares!

EXACTLY!

Aftermarket (non OEM) parts have to meet or exceed OEM specs to pass Aust std's so 9/10 a/m parts are actually better quality than OEM.

Ebay FTW! You could also try Electric Life (Sydney), they specialise in electric window parts and rebuild regulators, sometime even eliminating 'factory faults'.

I suppose $2.5k for a belt, service and other stuff isn't so bad.

Quite often OEM and aftermarket parts come from the same factory, just in a different box. Take timing belts, quite a lot of car manufactures get their belts from Gates and its not uncommon to see the Gates part number on a factory belt.
As far as quality, who knows. Ive seen factory parts that are shit and vice versa.

Fucken people who stand just outside shopping centre doors in undercover carparks smoking their ciggis really piss me off... they won't stay in their car and smoke with the doors/windows shut cause they don't like the smell, but because their too fuckin lazy to walk an extra 10m so their out in the open we all have to smell it... like it smells so much better to someone that doesn't smoke. Hope they all die slow and painful deaths!!
