Yup I've driven extensively the VTII, VY and VZ. Not harsh at all, EVEN the Aussie press are starting to hammer it since the FG is out.Shiv - Harsh call there. You've experienced this? VY's with 4spds I've driven weren't that bad. Sure they weren't inspiring, but they're not an inspiring car to drive to begin with. But they're not as bad as you make them out to be.
My gripe being that they are not good in city traffic where you start-stop. When you lift off the throttle to coast to a traffic light, it judders and shakes (deliberate exaggeration) to a stop. Also, there just isn't enough engine braking available, which can be frustrating when following someone driving below the speed.
But to understand how off the mark it is, you need to compare it to the FG. I'm yet to drive one an FG (might have to rent one when next interstate). But the general thoughts being echoed is that it is far superior to the Commo in terms of its drive train.
LOVE the sound of that twin turbo Landcruiser! Should take it to the dunes and do what the Saudi's do and drive it up the sand banks
