Happy Australia Day guys!

Well, todays the day... getting hitched. Can't explain how happy I am to finally have this happen, given the postponing and associated stress of bloody covid! Hope everyone is doing alright, and 2021 is ok for everyone around here still!

Nothing has happened with my builds lately, for obvious reasons... fork me the amount of shit that goes into planning these things is insane!

Cheers,
Ben

Congratulations Ben!

I'm actually trying to organise a wedding for this June as well. Almost have a venue secured; get the confirmation tomorrow! :D

Hi!

What's up man?! Long time no see. How have you been mate?

Thanks a lot mate. It's an exciting (yet very expensive) ordeal. :P

It doesnt have to be an expensive ordeal. Shop for suits/dress in the June part of the year when wedding stuff in their off season and sales typically happen. We saved a packet shopping at this time of year - my suit ended up being the same price to buy with my groomsman suits hired as it was to hire the whole lot, so I bought my suit and it hangs with Mrs El_Freddos dress.

Venue hire, meals and cakage are ridiculous especially when you add on the wedding tax/surcharges. When hunting for venues, once they heard it was a wedding, their prices increased dramatically - and there wasnt any extras involved at their end on the provisions of the venue. We ended up finding a lovely country pub that gave us a section of their establishment to have our reception. Ten years later we dropped in and the owners still remembered us (we visit every so often when we can but dont always see the owners) which is always a nice touch.

At the end of it all, we wouldve still had plenty of change from $20G. One trick thats really hard is to keep the guest list down. We had 60 ppl in total including the bridal party - close friends and family. We managed to keep our parents out of those that made the guest list - you know how it is - you NEED to invite so-and-so because they A: have known/knew you as a kid when you were growing up but havent seen for x number of years; B: they invited your folks to their wedding so it would be rude not to return the favour! C:... its an endless list of reasons why to keep your olds noses out of the guest list-list!

All the best with organising your weddings. Go with what you want for your big day, dont be pressured to add stuff or get married somewhere that either of you are not happy with (not always an easy thing to sort out!). Most of all, the day goes QUICK! Enjoy it while it lasts. Have drinks on hand in the car/near by for the photo shoot that typically takes several hours, especially if visiting several locations if thats your thing - ensure you have water in that drinks stash ;)

Anyway, dropped in to say happy Oz day - missed it by several minutes! Not the same with all the shite going on around celebrating our national day or that Triple J got involved several years ago with the same shite and removed the hottest 100 from Oz day. Those were the days!

Cheers

Bennie

Hopefully its all sorted now Gaz, but I certainly agree with Bennie, try and keep the costs down as best you can! We went for a rolling pizza oven in the end, which was a bit more expensive than the burger food truck we initially organised, but the company had to sell it to keep their heads above water due to covid. Was still miles cheaper than catering, as soon as you mention wedding, the price went stupid.

Thanks guys, we started beverages at 11am, so I was well past sober by the time the night ended at 11pm. God damn it was a good day though! Still waiting for previews to our photos, but hoping we might get a couple today.

Morgs, whats been happening man? Long time no see!

Cheers,
Ben

Oh for sure. My mum is a seamstress so that's got the wedding dress sorted, and any adjustments for the bridal party and my suit. We are aiming for a wedding in June this year, haha.

My guest list is at 160... Lol.

Gotta love wog family.

Thanks for the tips though guys.

Haha, tell me about it. I still have SubyClub load up automatically when I load my browser at home but barely find the time to post. Good to see you're still around mate. Still driving a Subaru or have you moved on like me?

Yay! I love carbies... said no one ever. I think my issue is blocked fuel filters but I’ll check that in the morning. It’s not fun chugging up hills with the car surging. And the sweet spot is a feather weight on the throttle.

Same would happen as you accelerate through the gears if you were pushing a bit harder or holding higher revs, or if you had a head wind (no joke). Brumby got me home though with a load of gardening shit for the MIL, so it looked after me instead of dying on the side of the road. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.

Cheers

We bought a brand new Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSi R-Line in 2018. Looking at upgrading to the Tiguan R if it ever decides to make its way to Australia but definitely love the car regardless. The Tiguan R is expected to arrive in 2022 so we'll see how that goes.

Gave the Liberty wagon I had to my brother after his old Pulsar carked it.

More importantly, we're trying to organise a wedding for June this year and potentially buying another property. Kids not too far in the distant future too... I hate having responsibilities, haha.

6 years, wow!

Yeah I still love teaching Morgs. The Holden *GM A & NZ now* gig has dropped off a bit as there is no product realease anymore. 🙁 I'll still keep my eye in though.
The Secondary School/RTO is going gang busters so really busy there.

Man, the VSII would almost be eligible for historic rego!!

20 Santa Fe is a good car. Nothing wrong with that!

Congrats on the new Mrs! Sounds serious 😉

Yeah, no GM product would put a dampener on things.

Ill try add a photo but its been a while since Ive used this site haha. Im old now and cant work the blasted thing. The VS is a beautiful car. Only a V6 but I got it for $3500 in Sept 2019 so couldnt pass it up. Originally an Elizabeth plant executives car. Within 6 months in moved up to Canberra to an older couple who then kept it for the next 22.5 years. I purchased it off them with 147k km and a folder full of receipts - every cent ever spent on it. Its now sitting on 150,500km. Doesnt get driven very much. Still 5 years before itll be eligible for historic rego here in NSW. Its my forever car so Im not too worried 😉
