Looking nice still! Is it me or is the front bar a different shade?

Pretty rare to find someone who will suggest installing the more powerful turbo motor to get a rwc!

Will you need an engineers certificate for anything like the 6spd, brakes or rear suspension arms?

I highly doubt you’ll need to engineer the gearbox swap or the STI suspension items since they’re a factory part. But I’m no engineer!

Yeah the bar is unpainted. Ive got a standard legacy gt bar on atm so i dont damage the aftermarket one before getting it painted.

Wont need a certificate as theyre factory and bolt in like factory

I inquired at vicroads about something similar - an EA82 turbo in an EA82 wagon. No dice without engineering as the wagon wasn’t offered in Oz as a turbo, even though the sedan is basically the exact same vehicle as the wagon they wouldn’t allow it.

Stupid. Your saving grace is that the gen2 has the twin turbo, but I believe this was a grey import too. That’s where I was caught by surprise. Glad I didn’t do that conversion.

All the best!

I love your ingenuity with the jack handle!

Your engine work came together quick! Love it!

If you don’t mind sharing, what did the head work with seals and testing cost you?

Thanks Barbs,

Ive purchased valve stem seals from partsouq no worries. I wanted to put in an order Monday but theyve suspended work/shut down operations until the 20th due to Covid. So Ill wait and hope the exchange rate is better when I order - even though I want the parts now!

Tidied up a few things and borrowed a stock dump pipe so i wasnt smashing the firewall with smoke and exhaust.

Currently fighting a turbo oil leak. Have resealed the drain and some fresh copper washers for the feed hopefully kills it dead
k66sdXD.png

Still need some hoses for the header tank to the radiator as my old ones have gone walk about, but with a trip to SCA on the weekend should get that sorted and ready for a test drive :D

Me likey! Its a good feeling hey!

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Barbs, those flexible oil lines worth the coin? Curious, I might get some for the RS if you reckon they’re good over the factory hard lines.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else run them on the forum (although I reckon many do).

If youre gonna be changing the turbo occasionally theyre a good idea rather than bending the oem hardline. Also 20+ years newer with less spooge in them i guess.

I just had it in my tool box so used it haha

Time for another brain/photo dump.

Turbo started leaking again. This time from what looked like the clamp that holds the ehaust housing to the core i.e terminal failure perhaps. So pulled it off, pulled the housings off and there was no obvious oil leak from either housing. Strange. So gave it a good clean, put it back together and will see if it leaks again.

Small amount of oil but just above the wastegate port which wont have opened yet lol
