Shed time is still at a premium, so not much has come about there unfortunately. The time I have gotten has been spent putting the hoist up, which is now basically waiting for me to get a decent power source to the shed, not a job I'm looking forward to doing TBH.

Ben you’re about fifteen steps ahead of me in the shed department… get that power source sorted when you can, you’ll love having the hoist operational!

Hahaha, yea tell me about it lol. Got about 3 or 4 different jobs where the hoist will be a godsend! And I'm purposely waiting until it's ready before I tackle them 🤣

Was really quite lucky to get the house we're in now. Without that, all of this would still be a pipedream!

Can't wait to get a lot of various jobs ticked off once the power install is done. I want to just put a catenary feed across but the father in law wants to put an underground in, cos its the proper way to do it in his head. He's probably right, but undergrounds are shit to do through an already established garden. Can't put it across the grass where I've put my temporary catenary cos the septic line runs there... I think I'm just going to ask forgiveness and put a catenary up, and if he notices, we can always just remove it once the underground goes in. Cable length won't be an issue cos the catenary will end up a longer run by about 4m due to the elevation changes. I've got to get another 2-300 bucks worth of cable before I can start though...

Got an order update email from Nengun that I'd forgotten I'd ordered! Should be here by end of the month. A proper ARC filter for the air box!

Been doing a bit of a stocktake on what needs to happen with this thing to make it track ready. Had a good mate offer up the idea of doing a track day in spring-ish. So now I have 4 months to make this thing track ready.

So this is going to serve as my to do list.

Seat (Recaro fixed back XL something, get locally for ensuring not a fake)

Seat mount (drivers side Recaro rails have been bid on AND WON, with side mounts for the seat. Unsure if they will suit the XL seat however, may still need to get the specific XL side stays)

Harness (get locally for correct approvals)

Helmet (as above)

OEM seatbelt removal (no explosives allowed such as pretensioners) DONE

Engine removal for replacing gaskets etc and stopping oil leaks (have new rocker cover and spark plug gaskets to do)

Fit gen4 alloy rear setup (once it arrives from Japan, est. late august) (DONE)

Brembos to be installed (half done, fronts are on, rears sitting on the shelves, to be installed with the gen4 alloy rear arms) (DONE)

Coilovers to be installed (DONE)

Windscreen replacement (current is cracked)

Fire extinguisher install (to be purchased, my little one for the shed is out of date)

Airbox proper install (to be fitted just before the tune, as the AFM tube is a different diameter to stock)

Complete airbag system removal (don't need this when you're properly harnessed in)

Battery isolator (with accessibility from driver's seat)

Proper racing sticker set (battery isolator etc)

Some decent quality R spec tyres

Tailshaft loop (sitting in the toolbox)

Figure out a mounting method for the cluster.

That's about all I can think of for the moment, but it's still a hell of a list.

Oh. I forgot about that. Thought about it last night when I was talking to Tim, but forgot to put it in the list. Will be getting some R specs Jase.

First point is going to be the seat and associated gear. Need to be strapped in properly. What I really need is to book a day or 2 worth of leave so I can get into the shed uninterrupted... But that's gonna be a work in progress.

Had a good look at the rules I'll be stuck with for this after Tim flicked them through to me. Something I had copies of on my PC from a while back, but I haven't booted that up for a while now... So the squiz on the phone of the rules has opened a couple more cans of worms...

Some small things I've noticed. Because this thing is no longer registered, I'm up for a heap of new rules that wouldn't otherwise apply.
Amongst other things:
A tailshaft loop,
The stock bonnet latch removed and 2 separate mechanisms installed,
Twin battery isolators, one accessible from the driver's seat, the other accessible from outside the car,
ALL windows must have an adhesive cover (such as clear tint) to hold the glass together in the event of a smash (except the windscreen, as this is already laminated, which holds it together),
If using a catch can, must be a 2l capacity minimum,
A scatter shield for the trans, which is going to be interesting. There's not a lot of room under there to add a 6mm thick bit of plate... Especially given I'm looking to install a 6spd...

Sounds like it would just be easier to keep it registered. Those are fairly serious rules for what is essentially a street car still

This is true, but it's also a dedicated track car, with no interior, so road registering it would actually make life harder, as it would need all the bits and bobs like carpet, seats, door cards etc. New drivers seat is looking to be 12kg including mount and rails, versus the 30 odd kg that the stock seat is, so removing the interior and all the sound deadening is gonna save some weight. Much easier to remove it off the car versus trying to lose it off me 🤣

Some of these rules are from the multi car schedule as well, which I don't think I'll ever need, but it's a lot easier to get the car set for any eventuality, versus trying to adapt the car down the track.

Most of them have safety implications more so than just oddball rules, so I understand why they're there, and I'm willing to incorporate them.

Still have to abide by Australian standards for the tint side of things Bennie, no skirting it like you can with a road car. I'll probably put clear tint on that is that UV cut stuff. Car doesn't currently have tint at the moment, which helps.
Not sure how the current time frame is looking after seeing this, but I'm gonna try my best to make it happen still.

Edit, ordered an aeroflow tailshaft loop from outlaw speed shop in SA tonight. Almost as cheap as sparesbox, but free delivery and no drop shipping crap.

It’ll be interesting to see how those air deflectors work for the brakes.

How good is it winning auctions online? I’ve recently been doing the same on eBay but for different things. It’s a bit of a bug that hits you!

Yea, winning auctions is scary good. I am curious also there Bennie! They're currently sitting on the windscreen waiting for me to get time for everything. First point is to get that bloody hoist working, as it will make life infinitely easier than trying to do all the brakes and suspension changes standing as opposed to lying on my back. Thats really the only thing holding me back.

Coilovers rocked up, as well as an STi 10k cluster. It's from an auto, with a 7k redline, but that doesn't matter, I won't be watching the cluster that much anyways. At least it'll look cool AF.


Also got some gen4 alloy rear trailing arms and alloy upper arms, plus the alloy diff mount. Try and take some weight out of the arse end.
Needed to buy some cusco rear sway bar mounts as well, as the arms only came with one side's bracket, and it's too hard to find OEM ones... So they're on their way also.



Photos coming once I manage to get things fitted (which could be months away, let's be honest 😬🤣)
