Hi, Looks to be nice colour. Aside, I like the label on that one quite a lot. You've got literally no head on that pour though, would you say that was the beer or a dirty glass/bad pour? Not having a go at your pour skills, just wondering, because if that photo is taken pretty quickly after the pour, I'd be taking a lot of marks off for poor head retention. Cheers, Nik

MY fault, not the beers!

LOL, it was my fault, had no clean/cold glasses. washed one but it wasn't cold and wasn't completely dry. Head retention on this was good, still had head with an inch of beer left.
Also this one was taken after having a sip and topping up with rest of bottle (stupid homebrew glasses, perfect size for the stub homies but leaves half a mouthful in a 330ml)

I did have a proper beer glass (the goblet looking ones) but missus decided it would be a better wine glass... two nights later it was broken! :dash2:

1lt steins are the way to go... although you'll need a few "helpers"

Posted Image

I'm starting to get worried now bout my pouring skillz :sarcastic: this glass was clean as a whistle rinsed in hot water then refridged till bout same temp as beer, poured in one even pour with glass tilt at approx 35-40deg.

Wondering if I've got the fridge too cold? would that affect the head on pouring? as this one did the same as the Bridge Rds no head on pour but nice 5-6mm head from bout half way all the way to the bottom.

All that aside this is another very tasty pale... Again not as good as the Wicked Elf (that stuff has ruined me- even little creatures/fat yak don't compare) but still would love another!
:drinks:

Posted Image

Thats after sitting for bout 5mins

Its not me  this was poured exactly the same way

Posted Image

This would be a great starting point for anyone looking to expand their horizons in the beer world, kinda like a pale but less intense (if that makes sense).

Might have to sus out these Bridge Rd peeps some more...

Hi, The best way to pour for head is to pour a vigorous splash into the bottom of the empty glass, this will undoubtedly form a strong foam. Allow this to settle for a few moments, and then pour to remaining beer down the inside of the glass. Not too slow, just nice and even, and you will find that head from the base of the glass will lift to the top. This helps in forming that lovely head that sits just proud of the top of the glass. Head is actually important to taste, as a lot of the hop flavour can be found here. That's why I drink 'through the head'. Damn. Now I'm thirsty. This should be called BoozyClub. Cheers, Nik

Hi again, Sorry. I missed you question about the temperature. It is possible that the fridge is too cold to pour with a good strong head, I would point to the glass being too cold though. For easier head I'd probably be tempted to try your technique on a room temperature vessel. The two pour to be fair was shown to me by the head brewer for Lion Nathan, but shown to me on a tap - not from the bottle. But the principle is the same. This bloke doesn't use the two action pour that I mentioned before, but he has a beard so he is obviously over qualified for the position anyway. The next thing you can start looking for, which is a sign of a quality brew, is the lace. The lace is the amount of head that sticks to the side of the glass and stays in formation after the beer level has dropped below that point. Then this happened... ....(I don't think it really happened...) Cheers, Nik

hmmmmm, might be some trick photograophy in there.... somewhere. With the 1st vid I always thought pouring like that made the beer go flat

Posted ImagePosted Image

As you can see- no head on pour (and that was using splash then pour method) although there isn't much hops about this brew, very malty, sweet but still refreshing. I was reading yr last post as I finished it and thought I'd show the "lace" (2nd pic) thats bout 2 mins after empty.

Hi, That would definitely be considered a nice lace. It also looks like you drank the beer in three sips. Hoorah! Cheers, Nik

Lidermans Blackberry - Its like any other fruit infused beer I have had (Really similar to RedBocq) slight sourness, but thats the end of it. Kinda makes me think of ribena or some other black fruit based drink. I'm kinda disappointed. Oh well, I still have an unsweetened, unflavored one in the fridge

Normal Lambic - Not for the faint hearted. This is what I think all beer would have been like however many years ago it was first invented. Its sour, a little bitter, almost vinegar tastes and smells. Where we would normally talk about citrus it will be the sweeter and fruitier flavours or peel, this type its the pith (the white bit) and peel. I'm glad I have tried it, but uh.. I think I will skip it next time :D

Some beers need to be worked a lot more then others to get a decent head :D they like to play hard to get... The head retention on my first batch of home brew is only pretty mediocre :( soo dissapointed........ looking for my next lager for hope :D used a bit extra saflager yeast and also used hersbrucker hops :D

So, when you leave a job they're supposed to buy you something (i've been there a long time) relevant to you or something you will enjoy.

What do you think they're trying to tell me with the present they bought?

(yes, das boot!)

Just noticed the Lambic (4th from right). Have you had it yet ?
